I haven't sent them to him yet. He said he has so much work that not to send them till the end of this week. Surely a good sign though

Finally got the rims back after having them re-done by another company.
Much happier with the results now. Can finally get on with getting them together, my job for the weekend!

Before

After

The work was done by http://www.the-polisher.com/ up in Scotland. Would recommend them to anyone on here thinking of having anything like this done.

Its probably best you ask for a specific quote for your work as every job is different. It is however cheaper than I thought it would be

Just finishing up putting these together. Replaced the 10 point nuts and bolts with some brand new 12 point bolts and six point nuts that I got from a trader in Germany.

Just need to seal them up to make them air tight which I'll take pictures of how to do if anyones interested. Waiting on some new valves to turn up form Germany again. Already have tyres waiting to go so not long to go now biggrin

Absolutely lovely job, they look fantastic Russell, top marks mate. Look forward to seeing them on the car at the Growl (if you are going?).

OOI what is the advantage of the split rim design, always wondered?

It's a bit lighter than Estorils or Imolas - about, or near 1kg per corner I'd say. Still some way off from modern weight-optimisde designs as engineers and computer simulations get cleverer all the time - but like for like, a two-piece design should be lighter. Also, theoretically if you bend one against a kerb on the outside you may get away with just replacing the polished rim bit, and you could swap between rim width/offsets by using different outer rims - both latter points in this case are academic as no one supplies bits for wheels that haven't been made for at least 15 years now (they're also known as OZ Vegas in the aftermarket - 'rocking horse droppings' doesn't begin to describe availability).

I'd dearly love a pair of 16s.... 15's are available, well 2 of them, but rears, I have been looking for a while.

and they do really look the business when finished like those above..... hmmmm

If we're making this the 'Wanted' classifieds anyway, I could do with a single 16" wheel so I can have a spare set refinished... (have 2 fronts and 1 rear)

All finished now and fitted with brand new Toyo tyres.

Pictures aren't the best as it was getting dark by the time I got them home. Will get some better pics up when they are on the car and in the sunshine cool

You were very right to be unhappy with the finish on the rims originally. I did my OZ's myself back in November as a complete novice and made a better job than that.

They look great now!

Here's my link. I know it's not a Griff but the principle is the same and this may help anyone attempting to go DIY. Start on the second page and work forwards. I hope this makes sense. (Don't mean to hijack the thread).
