That would be worth considering, I'll have a look at their stuff, did you find the system intrusive? I had an one on a BMW and nipping out of a junction was not always easy if you got a bit of tyre slip the system choked the engine not nice with a truck approaching!!
you could adjust the slip from (IIRC) 0 to 20%. so in the wet, 0 percent, in the dry 20%. was running 295 sticky tyres, so it didnt slip much when dry (unless provoked), but in the wet.....torque delivery meant slips were very easy, even at 2000rpm or so.

it wasnt intrusive, and as it sequentially cut injectors to pistons depending on the amount of slip, didnt bog, just dropped a bit of power till it caught traction again. you could still leave "11's", but only if at 10% slip or more,

controlled rear wheel drifts were a lot easier, as the back end didnt spin round as fast after breaking traction, you could bury the throttle, and leave traction to hold the slip rate

first day i fitted it, took it for a run, applied full power on a slightly damp road, set at 20% slip. rear end tried really hard to overtake front. as the car would put max power down, till it lost traction.

It helped a lot, noticed most when you caught a tyre on a white line etc, but no replacement for throttle control.

that car had stock GM ecu. just spliced into the 16 feed and return injector wires, and speed sensors on the front wheels, and either side of the diff output
but as i say, no replacement for right foot control as the next owner found out after less than 100 miles

Ouch, I'd like to avoid that I had a look on the racelogic site a kit for a v8 with 4 wheel sensors and a digital adjuster £1170 + vat so £1400 I'll see how I get on with my foot!!

The 50/50 weight distribution F & B, with the slightly heavier Chevy engine could easily be restored with some fixed low down flat lead weights in the boot. A four pipe rear exhaust set up would be tidy and with the lead, also help to ballance the traction control.

it was a few years ago....and as i said, even with TC, a heavy right foot can still make a mess

What does something like that cost ?finsished job .. Is the standard LS ecu fully mappable..Was it a crate motor or did you go for different heads and cam etc ..

Look absolutely fantastic.!

Thanks Daz, you can get an idea of cost on the Sportmotive web site or better still ring them and ask.
Yes it was a UK sourced crate engine available from Partsworld Performance in Cannock, (less expensive than shipping one from the U.S.)
I'm running the GM run kit my understanding is the ECU is fully mappable.
Heads are standard as is the cam, I may uprate the cam to get 480 brake but I think 430 with similar torque figures maybe enough........ for me anyway.

Not too bad. The same as outrigger repair, and well worth it. As safe and as fast as the fastest Aston. Both feet off the ground !!

No, chassis is standard I'll have a rear roll hoop fitted which may stiffen it a bit, I would like one of Sportmotive's Evolution chassis
I'll have to see how many pennies I have left.

What's it like to drive? Awesome, nah it's better than that. I left Sportmotive praying that the rain would hold off and sure enough it pi$$ed down all the way home and not just rain, there was hail too. I don't mind admitting I was a bit unsure of what to expect having heard all the stores of very powerful rear wheel drive cars being murder to drive. The car is amazing and really easy to drive, I have as yet only used half of the available revs but it is so tractable, no shunting, power is progressive and seemingly limitless. There was talk of the rear wheels locking up on downshifts and I have an ali flywheel so no momentum store. When I backed off the RV8 there was huge engine braking but the GM ECU seems to take care of that, the engine revs reduce progressively and the engine doesn't just die. My one concern is around under bonnet temperatures, but I had that with the RV8, I hope that a vented bonnet will help with that.

I believe that this is the car that TVR should have built, it is now certainly the one that I hoped for when I bought it. Thanks to Ian, Ant and the guys at Sportmotive for a great job, here tis.

Hi ya, looking great! As per your under bonnet temps, i have just fitted the vented bonnet and there is a differance! you can literally see the heat escapeing!
Great build and hope to see you at the Growl or Chatsworth?
A couple of us LS guys are planning on meeting down the Ace on one of the coming wednesdays??

Thanks, the ace is a bit far away for a me. Have you noticed a difference on the temp gauge since you fitted the vented bonnet.

Ok as for monitoring temps to be honest its one of the problems i'm having, i had to send the speedo and rev counter to speedy cables as we were having trouble getting the modern ECU talking to the old school griff clocks!
I'm also convinced my engine temp gauge is reading high
The rev counter goes a bit awol under full throttle but so does everything else including me :}
Running the LS3 i would love to be able to get modern accurate reading like on my 350, oil temp, engine temp etc, but i would hate to lose the original clocks.
Yes the car is at S&D and there is another Griff in there having a bespoke tuscan set up morphed into a Griff dash which will be very interesting to see!
I have a friend with a Precat Griff with a re-modelled dash in Carbon Fiber with a stack race system!
Very jealous of capability to get accurate engine readings and much more, he also runs the vented bonnet which at the same time as being functional has to be one of the most sympathetic body mods imho!

where does the vented bonnet come from? looks a bit like the vents in the Chimaera bonnet although that one is different.
Are they on special order? or self made...
