I have a 1998 Griffith 500 with the original rear light assemblies. I am considering changing them and wished to know what options are available and typical costs etc.

I have seen a few Griffs with the later standard of rear lights and think these look the best.

Thoughts, comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you looking for standard rear griff rear light, the early cars had standard clear vauxhall lights and the later had the dark tinted cavalier gsi or gsr rear lights ,
If your after Lexus look you need halfords,

Yes the late edition lights are along the lines I am looking for, are their kits available or specialists that do the conversion?

Also what are the Lexus lights?

Fernhurst have a purple griff with after market SE style lights which are completely flushed into the rear - unlike the SE model. They showed me the website of the bodyshop who did it but I can't for the life of me remember who it was. I'd give them a polite enquiry via the phone or email.

Chris, my advice is don't do it, you will reduce the value of your car. I would have never touched a standard Griff with SE lights grafted on. Having said that a man has to do what a man has to do....! Good luck

That's interesting Pete, it's just a consideration at the moment. Is there any other no no's you would say to do that would de-value the car?

As I was considering improving the mirrors to the late Griffith mirrors which we VW.

Very nice, may I ask where you got it done?

Also could you give an indication of cost?

I`m pretty sure these folk do the later style lights. Maybe worth a quick call.

Chris, I am not a purist by any means and I think good, sensible mods to Griffs are a good thing, especially to the bits that TVR 'never finished'. I personally really like the original lights (upside down Cavalier GSi lights) and I am not a fan of the SE light clusters, however I am sure many may disagree with me, you clearly think they look good. I do think this mod may devalue your car though, I don't know how reversible it is - somebody else mentions this.

When I rebuild my Griffs I will certainly consider mods, such as galvanizing the chassis, wishbones and even the seat frames, which I think is a 'no brainer'.

Eff eff. What happened to your original rear light clusters when you changed them?

Colin at TVRSSW knows someone who makes them.

Just wondering what some of you don't like about the SE style of rear lights? Admittedly I am a bit biased!
