As people are clearly still buying this I have now emailed the seller to ask why he is selling something which someone else has made available for FREE

And reported him for offline trading.

And bumped this thread in the hope it stops other people buying it.
Ebay won't give a shid as long as they are taking money.

Have you left negative feedback?

That will do far more to stop the seller than anything Ebay will do.

Could this rigged? I don't know enough about eBay to understand if its possible.
Yes it could. It's called "shill bidding" and involves the seller getting a friend to bid up to a certain amount before stopping. The worst that can happen is that the accomplice wins the the item, leaves positive feedback without actually receiving the item.
It is a bit of a coincidence that the last 3-4 of these I have been watching all reached approx £40. I just wasn't prepared to pay that much so I kept on watching the next one hoping it would be cheaper.
Of course it may just be genuine bids too.
Could be right Bidder r***P 513 bids on every book!!redcard

There's another ebayer that's pissing me off at the moment, he sells throttle bodies at a high cost buy it now price, but also auctions the same from zero pounds, but he always ends the listing before auction end stating that there was an error in the listing, its bks and just a way of advertising his wares and not in the spirit of an auction in my view, I've tried reporting but it does not actually match any of the limited descriptions that eBay offers for this, and he still does it.redface

I bought a Griff clock from the same seller and the black dial to change the time was missing hence useless. Didnt get a refund.
Recently bought an injector and the guy sent me a mail saying he wouldn't let it go at that price so gave me a refund and re-advertised it. Complained to f-bay who didn't give a toss. WHats the point of an auction site - you either set a reserve or buy it now otherwise you should be willing to sell at the highest bid figure.

Lets all "buy" a copy and just refuse to pay, see how long it takes for him to get the message. I wouldn`t worry about 1 negative feedback being as I am not a trader, I use the site as it was intended.

Don't need it since we have Steve Heath's excellent 'Bible'. Also, I can add to that my own 83.6 MB file of personal information I have collected over the years from Piston Heads, TVRCC forums and elsewhere.
Suggest we all pool our post and link collections and forward them to TVRCC for review, reference and A-Z indexing . I have forwarded my A-Z to TVRCC who have made a good start this year. A good task aimed at restoring the old broken 'The Griffith Pages' web site.

Sellers can no longer leave any feedback for the buyer other than positive.
Another alternative is to advertise the same notes in emailed pdf format for a penny.

I've traded on eBay for over 15 years and have only had to make a single complaint during that period. That is when I used eBay's "Resolution Centre" for a non-delivery and the vendor was not being very helpful. I must say that after a wait to allow them to investigate, I think about 2 weeks, I got a phone call to discuss and then they reversed the PayPal transaction without further delay. What I'm saying is you guys should perhaps give this a try (and I'm sure they will easily pick up on any shill bidding) however I would guess that you might have to return the offending item(s)as part of the process.

(To complete my story - the "non-delivered" goods eventually turned up - the fault was really with the carrier however I then did the right thing by paying the vendor by a separate transaction)

It's up to him. He can sell a shovelful of soil from his garden if he wants and people are willing to pay for it.

Just because something is free elsewhere doesn't make it illegal to ask money for it - and he's not forcing anyone to buy it.

Completely agree.

I just posted up here because I know the information he is selling is available for free elsewhere. I can't stop him selling it and neither have I tried to. But what I can do is highlight it on here every now and then so the people I care about don't get stung by his money making venture.

Is there anyway to get a notification when a seller lists an item?

Seems like a good idea if, between us, we could "buy" every one he lists at a ridiculous price and not pay him.

ETA - "his" item on ebay is only 84 pages, the pdf linked to earlier is well over 200 !

If it bothers people then the easiest way to stop this is to list an identical item on eBay (same title and description) at £0.01 and state that it is a URL link to 200 pages of information that same as this guy is selling. Could even put the URL in the item description so people get it for free. I'm not an eBay wizard but I am sure someone could follow this guy as a favourite seller and simply screw things up every time he lists this item.

Unfortunately looks like another one sold for £56! Probably not quite a record but still a chunk of change.
