I've got the Steve heath bonnet stay and I agree its a nice idea. Because the cross brace is much sturdier the bonnet doesn't bend anywhere near as much as I thought it would. I modded mine slightly by taking the dog-leg out of the support and replaced the tool clip with a much better quality one as it was very weak but all in all I'm really happy with it.
If anyone is selling their original TVR cross brace then PM me as I'm looking for one.

Just a quick note to say I have fitted the Steve Heath bonnet stay now. Its perfectly fine and as stated in earlier posts the bonnet does not flex as much as you would expect because the stay is attached to the aluminium bar at the front of the bonnet, not the fibreglass.
Thanks for the info regarding the fitting of this.

That's right, the strut is a similar length to the cross brace. I'll take a picture in a while.

That exactly what my mk2 Steve Heath strut is like, bought one several months ago just before he closed down his website to concentrate on the ECU Mate. It is a really nice bit of kit, highly recommend it. Rgds, Pete

Fitted a pair to modified brackets, no bonnet flex if left up at events (windy events)

A long time ago S.H. fitted his bonnet stay to his ( now my ) Griff and its still working fine. But yes the bonnet does twist a lot when its up.

However, i now find myself allways removing the bonnet when im tinkering as it makes access just so much easier and is so light, quick and easy to remove.

Sorry guys, I have gone a bit silent on this one due to family holidays and my having to return to Kazakhstan a week early. I will continue my investigations for a suitable solution in the autumn (or is it autumn now?). Pete
