Matthew, have you any casting marks/numbers on the unit, I may know a man who knows stuff....
(edit, I have also asked this of you on the Griff facebook page, let me know that way if you like.)
Hi Bob, I have ordered a new servo and master cylinder from Racetec. I need a new servo, the brake master is fine but I thought while the pedal box is out it would make sense to change the master at the same time. I am not sure about any casting marks. I will have a look when they are out. I am not doing the work myself. Phil at PR Wood is fitting the new units for me.(edit, I have also asked this of you on the Griff facebook page, let me know that way if you like.)

Are you sure that is the right servo Daz? 96-97 is a Mk4 Fiesta and the servo fitted to Griffs and Chims is a Mk3 Fiesta 89-95http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FIESTA-96-97-BRAKE-...

That's just an example ! I can take a picture of mine tomorrow. You have to be crazy to pay all that money on a new one ..
If you can get hold of a cheap one then go for it but just make sure is the correct part as per GagdeS3C's post:Also bear in mind that a second hand unit from a Mk3 fiesta will more than likely be in poor condition as they are pretty exposed to the elements in the Fiesta and those cars are getting on for 15 years old now. I decided on a new one as I didn't want to take the risk of a second hand unit considering the amount of labour required to fit

Hope you are happy with your purchase ! even at £200 from a main dealer is to expensive ..
I know you have been pushed in to a corner but that is crazy money ..£522 racetech must be laughing all the way to the bank .
Tell me about it! realistically I would expect to pay somewhere between £60 and £100 for a servo. £522 is just silly money but I really could not see any alternative and I want my car back on the road as soon as possible.I know you have been pushed in to a corner but that is crazy money ..£522 racetech must be laughing all the way to the bank .
I just hope that some bright spark can come up with a solution utilising a more modern and readily available alternative part that will fit the existing brake master cylinder with little or no modification.
Looks like PeteGriff might be onto something but I guess it is a case of watch this space.

I am going to do a thorough engineering study of this as it could have consequencies for most of us. What I would like to do is borrow an actual Griff installation (i.e. servo/master cylinder/pedal assembly (possibly) from somebody, then I will have a look at some readily available units including land rover parts (which I am quite familiar) and see if I can come up with a solution, be it an adaptor kit or whatever! I think the KA setup might be a possibility, I can buy a cheap 2nd hand unit of eBay for the study. Let me know guys? Thing is Matthew in all my years in the motor trade I never changed a brake servo on the MK3 Fiesta and its not external condition you need worry about its the big diaphragm internally that fails when a brake servo hisses and wont hold vacuum IMO done a few of these over the years but the principal is the same check out the large diaphragm unfortunately our one's cant be split and if you could no spare/kit available but you know that already. Also bear in mind that a second hand unit from a Mk3 fiesta will more than likely be in poor condition as they are pretty exposed to the elements in the Fiesta and those cars are getting on for 15 years old now. Well volunteered Pete, somewhere along the line someone has to come up with a solution! My servo and master cylinder are coming out next week to be replaced and you can gladly borrow them for research. PM me your address and I will post them on to you.Ian

Hi Simon, thanks for the info. It sounds like I have been unlucky then if you have never changed one considering how many of them where made. A few people have suggested that issue with mine is the diaphragm as it hisses constantly until I put my foot on the brake. Over the last couple of weeks it has got worse so I figured it was time to get it looked at.MPoxon said:
