Thick red bulkhead cable
Discussion
Slightly embarrassing...I need to ask a stupid question.
Can anyone tell me where the thick red cable that comes out of the bulkhead into the engine bay goes to? I've reconnected all of the loom apart from this big cable and I can't find it in my notes or photos during the strip-down.
It's a Pre-cat Griffith 430 but I guess all the looms are the same. I thought it was for the starter motor but my photos suggest not.
Thanks in advance,
Simon

Starter to battery only. Starter pole will also have twin brown cables on the same stud.
Precat has twin brown from fuse box to alt, then alt to starter (all round houses to connect fusebox to battery ~ 3" away ... on early cars) IIRC. + NO 100A fuse (before they start)
It's kind of illogical the way they did it??? I modified my pre-serp (430's had Griff labelled looms) so the fuse box connects direct to battery and alt to starter then removed the brown wiring across the top of the engine.

Thanks Spend, I thought that was the only place it could go. In my photos it's obscured by the motor itself because of the way it's routed. All fitted now.Precat has twin brown from fuse box to alt, then alt to starter (all round houses to connect fusebox to battery ~ 3" away ... on early cars) IIRC. + NO 100A fuse (before they start)
