Setting off from home this morning I noticed that the fuel gauge didn't look to be flat against the dash. Poke, poke and the gauge fell out...for the second time it has broken, first the glass fell off and now the threads at the back have both sheared frown

To add insult to injury the metal bracket shorted to something when trying to fish it out and as a result all the dash gauges are reading wrong, I'm assuming it has taken out a voltage regulator but am at work at the moment so can't look it up.

Being a bit keen for a drive this morning I swore and set off anyway. Got to the petrol station to find that the boot solenoid isn't working. Bugger bugger bugger: not much fuel, roof stuck in boot, great...so I had to drive home and dump the car.

Can anyone confirm that there is a voltage regulator for the dash and where I might find it? It would be nice to be driving it this weekend but I guess that is a long shot.

Also can anyone PM me an emergency way into the boot? This time I had the fuel to get home but could have been a lot worse.

Thanks

Rob

Sounds more like you've poped a fuse.

The gauges are still all reading, all be it rather low, maybe 25 to 50% of correct hence I don't think it is a fuse as I would expect all the gauges to have died completely if that were the case. However, I have not yet had time to check anything so you never know...

Just PM you to open boot. Mine also has a handle over the offside wheel arch to open the drivers door. Good luck. Eddie.

From EX Auto Elect...you have popped a Fuse...you should have no Ignition warning as well...but with engine running and fuse gone, small amount of current back feeds from the Alternator W/L ...making all gauges work low, there is a common way to get into boot...but perhaps reluctant to say how on hear !...you may well find same fuse for boot release. Confirmed, it was a blown 10A fuse. Still got a petrol gauge held in with insulation tape but hey everything works smile
