Not an easy job. There isn't a nut to tighten the mirror that just holds the mirror to the door. There is a grub screw to tighten the mounting buried in the recess underneath the plastic gaiter, but the mirror has to come off to tighten it. (Hangover from it's original mounting on the Citreon CX)

Look at this thread. I followed the instruction from CrazyCraig when mine was loose. Not easy but very comprehensive instructions.

It can be loose on the grub screw or the thread through the door. Now feel I have reached expert status on these! Pm me a number if you like and I can call you tomorrow.

As i had a loose grub screw I have made a special tool bended from a Allen key. The short end is to be put in the grub screw
Please note that the last picture is rotated, can't fix that....

I managed to fix the mirror but it was a p&#g of a job being very careful not to damage the paint.
I taped the whole area around it to prevent scratches.
Then I lifted the gaiter and pushed the edge of it a bit to the center of the mirror support. By doing this there was room to manoeuver the key in an tighten the screw.

Advantage : no removal of mirrorparts that can be easily damaged.

Thanks for all the replies, not a chance yet to look at why it's loose, but hopefully have a chance tomorrow !
