.....a batch of stainless exhaust mounting trays. Had this CAD drawn a couple of years ago when I had all the exhaust off, made and fitted stainless tray when reassembled.
Pete, I forgot to say that I might be interested in a couple of these if you were planning another run. I was going to have my tray galvanized but stainless steel sounds a good alternative. PetePete Mac said:

Hi Pete, go for stainless - fitted and forgotten. I am quite happy to start another list for a group purchase, so will kick it off with 2 for your good self. When I had a batch made before it was more cost effective to get 10 made so will aim for this! Regards, PetePeteGriff said:

Hi Pete, do you have a reason to believe that the alignment might be out on a s/s dash, or is that just a cautionary note?
Glyn
Hi Glyn, just a cautionary note as I know how TVR parts can vary across similar models. What might be a good idea is if I get a paper 1:1 printout run off some time and send it to you, or if you can send me a tracing of your dash so as I can match it against mine? I did have a duplicate set of parts made at the same time so have an identical sample! Regards, PeteGlyn
I've decided against selling my Griff so I'm definitely interested in a non-veneered dash so I can use my existing facia. I don't really want to take the dash out until I come to replace it so, as you suggest, could you send me a paper printout at some point so that I can assess the alignment please? If so, I'll PM you my address. Thanks.

Hi Cossors, go for wood, its the natural choice!! The problem is whether its the original wood or stainless the dash is a flimsy 1.5mm (or thinner in the case of some stainless dashes I have seen) thin sheet that flexes and requires switches and/or fixings to be glued in place! With my laminated concept there is provision for secure mechanical fixing using the backing layer and a more rigid overall structure due to the lamination. The way ahead as I see it for those that require 'other' dash surfaces (i.e. stainless or carbon fibre), is to use the backing aluminium layer, then have a stainless (or carbon) layer cut and bonded to a thin ply layer, then assembled the same as the wood veneer version. This would give all the advantages of the new design (mechanical fixing and stability) and give the different finish required. Regards, Pete
I picked up my new dash from Pete on Friday, together with the stainless steel under trays he has made.
I can only say that both items were the work of a craftsman and the thought that has gone to making the dash and fitting the lights and switches is really brilliant. When I get it on the car I will post pictures.
It was also great to meet Pete in the 'flesh'. I have spoken to Pete a number of times on the phone and we have also exchanged many e-mails but it is also great to meet up. A pity that the day was wet and miserable so I couldn't take the Griff but come the summer.......!
Pete, I look forward to you next creation.

Hi Pete,If you're happy to supply the backing aluminium layer, could you PM me a price please? Thanks.

Thank you very much Pete for my new dash, it fits like a glove and looks absolutely fantastic.
I had a new dash fitted around 4 years ago, the dash has been out 3 times re-glueing the buttons to the back of the dash where they had disappeared into the dash. The old dash had also cracked, where i my car lives outside i do not think the extremes of hot and cold do it any good. I was very pleased to see that you have addressed both of these issues in your design. When I press the buttons now I do not get the horrific flex in the dash like I used to.
The dash was fitted by David Batty (The Garage) in Godalming. As always David does a far better job of these things than I could and I am very pleased with the result. I will post some better pictures when the weather improves.
Thanks again Pete.

Hi Matthew
My dash is on the way out...17 yrs and still on the original, but has a crack or 2, and warping a little at the edges..
How much did it cost all in? - (oddly I've never had a button push through.
Mine is a 98 (October) Griff 500, so I'm assuming identical to yours?

Hi Barry,
Mine is a 1999 500 so I would assume they would be identical. I have got around to taking some better pics of the dash which are posted in this thread:

With regards to cost I cannot remember the exact amount, drop PeteGriff a PM and he will be able to confirm the price.
