Nice one Ziga, I think a combined event is definitely worth looking at. It takes this pressure off of you and FFG if you can jointly organise something. I heard you did a great job with BBWF this year and FFG always does a good job with the Growl.

FFG,

If you let me know roughly how many rooms / parking spaces we usually need for a Growl, then I'm happy to speak to an alternative venue to test the water. Even if we don't use it this year having a 2nd choice venue will be helpful if this ever happens again.

Minimum - 15 rooms Friday, 30 Saturday and 100 cars, plus enough space for the rolling road (plus access on and off it) and for 10 traders (car and a 3m square gazebo). We have had 70 rooms in the past but numbers are lower now so basing on the last couple of years.
Hotel - good location, don't mid us using the car park, amenities close by (pub or 2), good value hotel room, centralish location (ie not cornwall or Scotland).

Thanks mate..The Wedges are up for it..The other venue i was looking at is the Ricoh arena in Coventry which wouldn't have an issue with room availability but I'm not sure about everything else, Im looking into it as an option and may be meeting with a rep within the next couple of weeks to discuss the options.

Personally i think we would be hard pushed to find somewhere as flexible as the Chase...And with such forgiving guests..Especially with the rolling road...eek.....hehe

I have spoken to the chase this morning and they are going to see if we can have some more rooms..I was only able to get a total of 30 for next year..10 for Friday and 20 for Saturday but I'm trying to push to 50...Or more .

Im waiting for a phone call back this afternoon...I will keep you in the picture.

Cheers...Ziga

And don't forget right next door to the RICOH Coventry is TVR Power, my second home had 4.5 put in T350 there and Griff is there right now having engine rebuilt, camshaft worn but thought sod treat the old girl to a new engine , anyway I am sure Dom would only be too happy to do something for us

long term numbers wise, a combined wedge/griff meet would be the way to go, and more fun, friendly rivalry - tug of war, etc.. and more traders..
I like wedges as well, tempted to have 2 tvr's!

September would be OK with me, but a combined event, would also be less overhead for individual organisers?
Even if the room rate were a little higher ( to persuade Ettington) for more rooms, I think it would be well worth it..

I couldn't go this year, because my wife was at Henley Regatta all weekend (working) and I had the 3 children.

Hi guys...I had a lengthy chat with the events organiser at Ettington today and she has said that at this minute they cannot foresee any more rooms being available for the weekend of the fest but you never know what might happen..So i have asked her to secure any that get cancelled from now on..Im exploring other options for you as well as it would be nice to have a combined event..Its a shame that all these people want to ruin a perfectly good relationship by going and getting married!!..Crazy fools!...Apparently 2013 was a very unlucky year to get married in due to the No.13 in the date...OOohhh scary..

I will keep in contact with the chase and hopefully something will turn up...Cheers..Ziga

The "Beer" stuff makes you do strange things for sure..Its very good at washing down a hearty meal but i cannot drink it anymore and can only drink Whiskey, Which is NOT cheap by the pint...drunk

An alternative is Brooklands Museum Weybridge, Surrey KT13 0QN
01932 857381 (Ex race circuit) www.brooklandsmuseum.com
Used by many auto clubs and may be avaialable. When you have time theres plenty to see with original aero engined race cars and aircraft on show. Makes your eys boggle when you think how those drivers sat with their legs each side of the exposed drive chain when racing. What health and Safety!
Generally they allocate an area within the grounds to support car club meetings.
Located pretty central to the majority of TVR owners and is always a brilliant day.

A more centrally located place might be at the Bugatti owner's club venue (Prescott).

TVRs park in the paddock.
Reasonably priced good food & beer available in the clubhouse.
Camping on site. B&Bs plus local hotels.
Use of the hill maybe available? Don't know how this would work but I know other car clubs have done this.

Not a camper myself, so while I love Prescott, it's a no from me.

Me and Angry Jock had a mini Griff meet in Le Mans this year at the Classic and we are planning to do it again at LM24 next year.
You're all welcome obviously biggrin
