Anyone help? Boot will not open, switch has needed a few prods to get it to open for a while but it's stopped altogether now. No sound at all from the mechanism so I'm hoping it's the solenoid and not the dash switch.............

I thought I knew the 'secret' way in but I don't or it doesn't work frown

It's a pre-cat which may affect the answer..

Can anyone pm me the info please?

Thanks
Richard

Cheers Ian, you're a star! I owe you a beer or three beer
Taking your own car apart was way beyond the call of duty.
Turns out the cable stop had slipped and the solenoid is very intermittent. Looks like a Trip to Maplins tomorrow.

Richard,
Don't want to teach you to suck eggs and all that but are you sure it's the solenoid? The switch is prone to dirty contacts - had the same problem on mine and it turned out to be the switch. Mind you the solenoid is the easier option!

I can hear the solenoid trying but not moving. Glad it's not the switch though as the dash was out quite recently. smile

The dash switch frequently gets jammed that eventually burns out the solenoid, I burnt two out before this modification:

The replacement solenoid comes with a metal rod instead of cable. It looks like a better way of connecting things to me.
Anyone used it?

Hi Rich, metal rod type perfectly OK. My replacement was like that and it works perfectly (nearly 4 years now), much easier to set up also. Regards, Pete
