Alarm / Immobiliser
Discussion
My Griff's still got the original Meta 98T alarm / immobiliser - but it's starting to play up. Can you let me have suggestions on the best and simplest (like for like) upgrade I can perform. If you have the wiring diagrams to go with the switch that would be brilliant. If by-passing the alarm / immobiliser is an option I might even consider that - wiring diagrams again if poss.
I've just had a Cobra alarm/immobiliser with remote locking fitted to mine to replace a japanese Vaio alarm/remote locking system - mines a Jap import so didn't appear to have a Meta, unless the Vaio replaced it at some point in Japan.
Now only immobilises the fuel pump, so no hot start relays needed afaik. As long as whoever fits the replacement can find the Meta box behind the dash and removes the whole system completely it should work fine.
£200 and 4 hours was the estimate... a very fair £260 plus 1 full day and two half days later the job was done... You gotta love TVRs.

I'll second Carl Baker. He replaced my Meta alarm system for the latest version at the beginning of the summer. Not the cheapest, but worth it in my mind as he really does know the electrical in's and out's of TVR's. He also told me that the original systems were only designed to last around nine years, so trying to fix the older ones is a false economy.
My 4.3 Precat still has the original Gemini setup for the alarm and door lock/unlock and has the separate immobliser with the tag on the keyring with the steering column receiver! All still working fine. I had a minor issue a couple of years ago with the immobiliser, but that ended up being a poor connection which I soon cleared. Regards, Pete
I would suggest contacting Dave at H F Solutions.

He sorted out a new alarm fob on my Tamora and he used to work for Meta. Great service at a good price, I couldn't recommend him highly enough.
There is also a thread in the General TVR section singing his praises, so I'm not the only one.
I'm guessing that he could do either a straight replacement or an upgrade depending upon the depth of your wallet and desire to keep it all original?

Hi Bob, Excellent to hear of another TVR expert ref alarms, who is not 100's miles away or who only pops over to the UK every now and again. That's one for the Griff Parts List data.http://www.hf-solutions.co.uk/

Dave from H F Solutions fitted a new alarm immobilizer in my Griff this year - knows his TVRs and did a splendid job for me http://www.hf-solutions.co.uk/
