Good evening to you all.

I would like to say as the soul...Oooppps i mean sole...(No "R"'s please) Wedgefest organiser of BBWF..(Big Bad Wedge Fest).. 2014-2015 that I'm a little confused...I see that 15 of the allocated rooms applied with a discounted rate for BBWF "Wedgefest" have been booked but only 4 are Wedge owners.

So it seems that some of you Griff guys have booked thinking it is a combined event?.....Unfortunately all rooms are now taken but i believe that its possible to book rooms for that weekend but NOT under BBWF or the "Wedgefest"...This will NOT included the discounted room rate.

So.....Are we having a combined event?... I think it would not only be good for us but also for charity...Sponsors...Traders....And TVR itself...So what say you...."FestGrowl" 2015 ...3rd-4th JULY 2015?

Any forth coming voluntary help would be appreciated....I love organising so its no biggie for me but some helping hands do help.... smile

Answers accepted....smile

Cheers...Ziga

Thanks for the post Mark - I'm a MASSIVE fan of Griffs and Wedges although I don't stay overnight but having owned 10 + Wedges and Griffs feel I can comment....

I (and I am sure most/all of the traders) would love a joint event - the more the merrier etc etc - I have just returned from Roger Morris's place (http://www.cambria-cirrus.com/) whom I know is developing other improvements on cars which may crossover with Wedges as well as Griffs...

The Griff forum has been VERY quiet regarding a GriffGrowl/Fest etc and I think it would be good to get some direction/confirmation so we can firmly put a date in our diaries (as some seem to have done so already?....).

Gredgefest? - yes from me.

Thanks mate...I love all TVR's..Even the ones i can't afford... smile
I was looking forward to a combined event for 2014 but it never materialised, Im happy to do it for 2015 but its up to the majority to decide...I have some good friends with all variations of TVR and they are all welcome as they know...Im a people person and these kind of events are the type that need people to make them work...The main objective is one of many...Creating a memorable fun time which brings a smile to your face when you think about it..Just as a TVR brings a smile to it when you drive them...And helping a charity by raising money from kind well meaning people...I was amazed at how much i raised for charity organising my first event...And i think the key was not having or really needing to spend big money out..The fest cost me £70 to organise and we raised a £1000 for SMA UK who were presented with the money via a bank transfer..(Documentation available if requested) within a week of my return from the venue, As it quite rightly should be.

I hate all this dividing among a single group, We all share the same passion for a model of car that was made by the same people..Has the same ingredients in the big pot!

Im British and was brought up to be a decent person..(Well done mum)..Never harm children or animals..Always be courteous to a lady and try to be a polite clean individual...Well i do bath once a year and shave every 100 days...smile

As i said I'm happy about it...Cheers...Ziga

Don't care what ithe event is called, am planning to be there as I missed some good outings last year (combination of work and getting a new interior).

Have booked for 2 nights on the standard rate, ie didn't mention Wedgefest, didn't ask for (or get) a discount.
Mark - if you have any rooms left over i'll gladly cancel and rebook to make sure you get the optimum take up.

Looking forward to it! thumbup

Is that going to be at Ettington a Chase?

If so, there will be the the usual chims there no doubt.

A joint fest can only be good for all concerned thumbup

Thanks Doc, That is very kind of you but that won't be necessary, Unfortunately the amount of people wanting to get married at the chase for the next few years is astronomical and this has caused all the issues at the chase..So the pressure is on for people to book ASAP as leaving it until the last minute is not advisable, All i can do is keep reminding people of this fact but it is up to them to do the rest.

Obviously when i signed the contract for rooms it was predominantly with Wedge owners in mind, I didn't think a combined event would happen due to the lack of response or interest in a combined event....But I'm up for it....smile...Cheers...Ziga

Hi mate..Yes its at the Ettington Chase hotel on the weekend of the 3rd-5th of JULY 2015.

I must reiterate that if it is to be a combined event then i would need to co-ordinate it with someone representing the Griffs...I can include you all in the planning but would like you to contact me via email so that i can reserve enough parking and provide enough food...And of course make sure they don't run out of beer.....biggrin

Yes my friend..Last year and this year but to no avail??...Strange really as he has booked two nights for the "Wedgefest" next year which isn't a problem as i said last year ALL are welcome but if Griff owners are coming then why not have a joint venture..Seems a good idea to me and the room issue will be the same either way..Thats just how it is unfortunately.

If the current organiser of the GriffGrowl doesn't want to do it this year then i will...I would prefer it though if there were somebody i could liaise with who is interested in Griffs as much as I'm interested in Wedges and can hopefully help create a fun weekend for all and raise a nice chunk of kindness to good causes...

The position of organiser is a voluntary one after all...I do it because i love to see people happy..That makes me happy plus i have ALWAYS given to charity even in my darkest days so the two are united in one, These events sometimes seem to become all about one person..This is NOT how i see it...For me its about all of us....We all share the same passions and from what i have learnt by meeting a big variation in TVR owners is that the majority are kind good people..There will always be bad apples in every bag but simply get rid of it before it spoils the rest...Cos them apples are delicious!...Cheers...Ziga

Dunno where FFG is, he seems to have been absent from here of late. I have helped organise Growl in the past with him and his predecessor and there are others who have tried to take it on when he has talked about it being too much, but then he found some spare time. It is not for everyone but well done for your efforts for the Wedge boys and your charity. If you want a hand let me know if you do not get help offered from anywhere else.

I think a joint growlfest would be a great idea. The numbers are declining for both meets so it would make sense to combine it. I for one have a big soft spot for wedges.

I'm not sure why a lot of meets/events are declining?

There are the hardcore regulars,(in fact probably the regular contributors on PH) that attend but considering how many TVRs are around, there is a lack of enthusiasm.

I attended Roar 08 which was pretty huge, not sure what happened in 09, (I was away iirc) but nothing since and it's the same at most of the regular events.

One of the success stories is the Neil Garner get together, a great mix of cars, traders and of course Neal's enthusiasm.

Maybe the same old same old isn't enough to fire people up anymore? The problem is that to stage something bigger, involving and more interesting takes time, a little money, vision and a lot of enthusiasm.

In this day and age where a lot of people want everything done for themselves, have little enthusiasm and frankly make little effort, there won't be a radical change unless it's a commercial venture where it's worth the effort because there's a profit to be made.

Not a bad thing, just a little sad for the real enthusiasts.

Just my early morning thoughts over a cuppa..........

yes Head, nail, hit, I'd say.

Oh and then they criticise from the sidelines when someone does make an effort.

This was my thinking after attending the Wedgefest four years on the trot...You can only stand in a hotel car park kicking tyres so many times.

When i had the opportunity to become organiser for 2014 and beyond i organised a run out to the Heritage Motor Museum on the Saturday and the Shakespeare raceway on the Sunday...Hopefully for next year i will find something just as interesting and exciting that we can all attend..Its a weekend about cars and their owners so it should have a driving theme...

I realised that to make it a big event it doesn't take money it takes commitment and thats the hardest thing to achieve..This is why i think it needs a little revamp and made more exciting, Perhaps for both events...I also try to keep the cost down for everyone over the weekend which is also a factor for people attending..Not that they are tight but more of the fact.."Do they want to drive 200+ miles to stand about talking shyte"...We can do that on here...hehe

Hopefully we can come together and all have a blast.....Cheers..Ziga

No doubt I will get shout at but if you look at most TVR events its in a hotel and a car park so unfortunately people are right its the same old same old and I can only assume that's why the figures are dropping at these events, I have had TVR,s for 20 years and while its nice to see them altogether in one place there is only so many times you enjoy them, I tried to do some help organise different things but my god the resistance I got was beyond belief so I do my own things now.

Good luck in organising something different and I hope it works out, I might just come along

I'm happy to stand around kicking tyres in a car park, but agree it is kind of samey for those of us who have had TVRs for a while.
One event i really enjoyed because there was more than just kicking tyres was Back Home.
While I'm not saying we need Back Home to make a return it would be an idea to have the meet where there are things to do away from the event and for other halves who don't appreciate the finer details of Alcantra vs cow hide.

And I'd be happy to help organise if help is needed.

We could take a leaf out of the pre 80's meets book. They've been to some great places and are back at Gaydon next year.

Agree with Barreti, I used to enjoy Back home went a few times as it was more than park up in a field and kick tyres, let face it after years of owning TVR,s and going to events in fields you have seen enough TVR,s to last you a life time, I used to enjoy going to events and doing things like treasure hunts etc the Burleigh meet was quite good with organised drives out even though most people got lost it was funny seeing TVR,s going in all sorts of directions, at least your there driving your TVR as they was meant to be wink these open days are ok but they are starting to pop up all over the place and good for the dealer or garage. Oops I better stop there or I will get in trouble as ever. I am not a member of the TVRCC but I am a TVR nut with three of them and would be happy for Barreti to help organise an event as he is very good at organising people except me yikes

Roar 08 had a treasure hunt on the Saturday and a mass run out on the Sunday.

Mix all that with a bit of tyre kicking, a rolling road and a few traders and it was a great weekend.

The idea of an activity is hugely desirable, treasure hunts being IMHO good fun, is mildly competitive and you drive your car!

Thanks for your input chaps...As said I'm up for it so if the current GriffGrowl organiser doesn't want to help organise something then I'm happy to work with anyone else who is...I know that his previous efforts are commendable and perhaps he would like to just relax for once and let someone else have a go.
Either way we need to start getting whatever available rooms there are booked up for that weekend...There is a cycle rally on the same weekend so lets give them a massive carbon footprint to whinge about....laugh

There will be more rubber left on the roads then there is on all of their skinny wheels combined!....driving

UPDATE:
I have just spoken with the Chase and there are hardly any rooms available for that weekend now so alternatives are needed, I have found loads of other hotels in the area which might mean a short drive to the event but it is a driving weekend anyway...Again you will need to make an enquiry as regards to a reservation....Thanks.
