This is Rolex blue. I have an Alpina that's BMW velvet blue with magnolia interior - great colour combo - and Rolex always looks slightly purplier (is that a word?) - even better. Mix with magnolia with purple carpets, dash and centre console please.

This is imperial - blue and mag interior please. Walnut every time for me as well. Carbon and steel just don't suit these cars imho.

I'd also love porsche iris blue or dodge viper blue. There was a dark blue 1999 car for sale recently with pas and aircon, that had mag/blue interior with blue carpets, the edge between the walnut and the blue dashtop in magnolia, plus the bits between the seats were part mag and part blue - stunning, stunning, stunning. It may well have been the first Griff I sat in about 12 years ago that one... too expensive for me though.

I have found a full but and bolt strip down plus new paint 4.5k cheaper that I am viewing next weekend and a few more ??
If that means it's rebuilt and under 14k that's a proper proper bargain. Buy two! The cheap (under 10) precats or 93/94 500s that were about maybe 12-24 months ago have just disappeared.

So Rolex blue has a purple hint to it ? Any more photos of that car ?

Anyone ever seen a Griff in Mallard ? I've only ever seen one and that was my first Griff an early 96 car that went to Germany.

Re the blues, I still think that Starmist is the nicest as it shows off the cars lines, but it's a common colour for a Griff. My one needs paint, I'm tempted to colour change, but I don't want to de value the beast in case I ever have to sell it.

Re buying one, unless you buy one that has had ALL of the usual jobs done ( and many cars still havnt ) the cost of 4 new shockers, wishbones, ball joints, steering shaft couplings, track rod ends, anti roll bar drop links, bushes, brake hoses, fuel filter, engine mounts, etc etc soon £ mounts and with labour on top ( if you can't fit yourself ) isn't cheap.

Andy you are so right....who on earth went for grey when these beasts were new !! The John Major effect I suppose. I very nearly went for a 964 or 993 in 2007, I looked at lots of cars, but all I kept finding was marble grey interiors and to re trim a 911 is very £ expensive.

Have you a photo of the 2 blue exterior colours you mention ? Are they BMW colours ?
You might want to take a look at mine, it is in Maserati/Ferrari "Blue Mediteraneo" I just grabbed a red Griff with black roof and interior and modified it into my dream-Griff. The interior is cognac nappa leather now, in my eyes a combination that succeeded pretty well. Take a look at this thread; http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

You can say that. I did everything here in The Netherlands. The roof and the interior retrim costed appr 8K Euro. But this included the luggage shelf in quilted leather as well. And they used nappa-leather for everything, even including the sun-visors.

Well I went to see the viper blue griff on sat 6.5 hr round trip , the guy has spent a lot on it over the 6 years he has owned it , the chassis has completely been shot blasted and zinc primed painted silver new bushes etc , I would have liked to have seen new shocks and disks :-) the car sounds sweet and looks fab but at £14.5 k I would need to do a complete new interior and dash and the fact it's on a J plate is a hard decision to May have to keep looking !! It has been the closest one yet for me to buy other than that red one YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ! :-) lol
