Has anyone got any good recommendations for some exhaust gasket paste that actually works?
I'm just about to refit the Y-piece to the manifolds on a 500 and whatever I try leaks within a couple of months.
Thanks Andy

Excellent idea - thanks for that
I've just ordered some fire proof black sealant off ebay
I'll see how it goes!

If you are using the clamps as the later model then you probably haven't aligned the joint properly.

Some cars are a right job to align properly with owners,(and mechanics) resorting to ratchet straps to pull the manifolds together.

Redo the joint dry ensuring perfect alignment.

If yours is a bolt together job, ignore this smile

^^^^ As peter said, can be a pain. You can loosen the manifold bolts and get more play up/down but don't use them to pull together. After years of struggling I ended up cutting the flange and re-welding for a perfect fit after I'd matched the manifold to head ports. Really odd thing is my last Griff' used to drop on perfect.

The left manifold on my one doesn't fit too well either and I usually have to re seal it with exhaust paste every few weeks in the Summer.

This ^^^^.

Get a cheap ratchet from Screfix and pull the manifolds together.
