I love this forum & you boys have really helped me in the past (for example stranded in Reims due to 100Amp & washer tubes) but I only reply or start a topic if I think I have something unique or genuine value to others.

I have been on here since May ish 2010, when I bought my second one. And yes I too have noticed a decline in Griff posts on here.
I used my one virtually every day during 2010, but then the following year it became a dry road only car. Usually re mot every May, but lack of cash last year, meant I didn't use it until a fantastic blast down to the Brighton speed trials in September ( where I caused much amusement by parking up, fitting the steering wheel lock and instantly remembering that I had forgotten the ruddy key for the lock! After 2 hours of trying to get the steering wheel off / or break the lock I admitted defeat and called a lock smith, £60 quid and 4 mins drilling and the lock was off !

Another reason for lack of use is the M3 ( an all weather / awesome bargain "drivers" car ) which I bought in late 2012. But I can't ever see me selling, the beast puts a huge grin on my face and I've only ever seen 2 others whilst driving mine.

Anyone interested in an informal Griff meet at a great location in the Sth East in the Summer ? Please PM me if you are.

Maybe the forums will be merged into a Chim/Griff forum like the T350/Sag/tam. Its not a bad idea since they are so similar... you hang in our forum a lot anyways smile

and no, chimps are not for wimps!!
I think it might be a bad idea laugh

I've never had the faintest interest in the Chimaera.

Fugly damned thing with a big droopy ass and ugly headlights.
So its a bit like a woman, if the front AND the back are ugly its best left alone.

You guys worry too much. The community is alive and kicking - these things just ebb and flow. Everyone's still here just waiting for the right topic.
My car hibernates but tomorrow the Taxman will get his pound of flesh and my Griff will be back on the road. I've always used this forum for technical help which isn't required when it's laid up. I keep my eye on things and comment on the odd occasion I know the answer. I'll probably start a few threads tomorrow once I find out what 2015s issues will be.
Happy hunting!

Hey, guess what ?

It's been 4 years and I haven't blown mine up, so not so many reasons to visit anymore, as most of the reason I visited were for technical advice and to take the pi55 out of Clive F and Pasco smile

My car is now a true 300 bhp which to be honest is just fine for me ( if I wanna go proper fast I'll break out the Superbike ) I've done all the other upgrades I think I want to and now that Clive has bought his Saggy and Piesco has gone a bit quiet there's just not so many reasons to pop in as much

But I am still lurking

I do miss the banter and I'll miss the Growl also this year. My perfect excuse for a thrash through the Cotswolds. Never a bad trip

Griff is going nowhere and neither am I

Blimey there must be a disturbance in the force if you engine is working reliably.

On a serious note though, good to hear from you and I am glad you are all up straight now, I remember the posts from years ago especially the one about the pistons and feeling very sorry for you.

Who did you get to rebuild it in the end and what spec was it built to?

Facebook etc are very easy and notifications prompt you to partake in the banter

I'm sure that is a contributor to the slowness of many other club internet sites which to some extent have been overtaken by the ease of those social media sites.

My interest with the Griff is as strong as ever, Ph got boring for me I guess and that combined with my decision to withdraw from a lot of the TVR side of life being pretty disillusioned explains my absence on hear I suppose.
I've kept in touch with some of my old friends on hear but must admit that I'd like to have kept in touch with more. Some great people are sadly missed and ph might have helped there?
The Griff will be with me forever though regardless of me posting on ph or not smile

Got a lot more toys to play with now so they all get less use. Still love the Griff, am going to the Wedgefest, not a TVRCC member and very unlikely to ever rejoin.

Another regular lurker but infrequent poster here! Am often on the verge of posting but then realise it's already been said and probably more eloquently and amusingly than I might have managed! Agree with the posts so far as to the reasons for the apparent lack of enthusiasm. Things have simply progressed. Personally I can't imagine a more enthusiastic group of car nuts than TVR owners. I've had my Griff a couple of years now (had one 15 years ago too) and still get just as excited about going out in it now as I did when I got it, especially in good weather of course. I get bored of cars very quickly and am usually looking in Autotrader for my next car within weeks of buying one. But not the Griff. Hope I never have to sell it. I was very lucky to find one that matched my preferences so quickly. It gets used at least twice a week all year round, lives outside, under a cover typically, so no garage queen and has done 80k miles. Washed every fortnight, polished once a year and maintained by Jason regardless of the triviality of the fault! (Trips up there are always a bit of a day out anyway as I usually end up staying ages chatting to the boys on all matters TVR!) I don't alas have the skills to tamper with it and wouldn't forgive myself if I messed up, as much as I love fixing things myself.

Am going to Burghley again this year and looking forward to seeing hundreds of TVRs in one beautiful location again, as well as the 50th Anniversary event in July and Blenheim in August. It saddens me that I barely see one TVR a month on the roads when during my last tenureship it was probably one a week. But the flipside is I feel even luckier to have one at all. If I could build a car from scratch it would pretty much be a Griff. For all its faults (actually it hasn't many) I rarely if ever envy anyone with much more expensive or exotic machinery for pure driving pleasure. Hope to see some of you at Virginia Waters on Friday smile

Ted tried merging the Chimp and Grief forums years ago; there was nearly revolution with pitchforks and everything; it soon reverted to the proper division yes

I guess that's the nub of it. I bought the Griff new back in '99 and used it for Le Mans, Goodwood, TVRCC tours etc. then I got the Aston and then a Porsche so there's more choice of which car to take where. I'll never sell the Griff but my days of constantly tinkering with it are over.

What sort of age range are you in RichB? I ran 3 AMs but eventually got bored with them because they are too 'perfect' (and also because, to get any sense that you're pushing them to anywhere near their limit, you have to be driving at senseless speeds). I reverted to my first automotive love, a TVR of course, and don't regret it (despite the failed CT!!).

I can relate to that Glyn, the Aston although superb is no where near the fun and rawnes of the Griff. And certainly the Griff doesn't need to be pushed as hard to get near its limits as much as the AM.. But if you turn the TC of it does ;-)

"Traction Control" uttered on a TVR forum. Dear God whatever next.

Nurse, nurse, I need a tranquilliser. Quick!
