Thanks to a tip off from Ian Rose I am now the proud owner of a pair of Tuscan seats which I have been after for a long time now. The owner turned out to be fellow Essex TVR owner Jon who owns a stunning green Tuscan... small world! I was originally looking at Cerb seats but these raise the driving position a bit and my head already touches the roof when wearing a helmet with the original seats. The Tuscan seats sit a bit lower and have the option to remove the cushion which makes the seating position lower still and secures me in much better.

My good friend Yan very kindly gave up his afternoon today to make the necessary adjustments to the Griff runners to match the Tuscan frames fit the seats. One of the Tuscan seats is now fitted to the Griff ready for a few track days this year. I thought I would fit one the seats before getting the pair re-trimmed to make sure I like it before going through the expense of a retrim. I am not best placed to make a judgement yet as i have only driven 10 miles but I certainly don't seem to move around as much as before. First Trackday will be the proof of the puddling.

Providing I get on with them OK I will get the pair re-trimmed winter this year.

This is what the originals look like. I was thinking about going same again with cream leather and blue stitching but I would like the centres to be Alcantara as I am not particularly keen on leather to sit on. Cream Alcantata is asking for trouble with blue jeans so I was thinking about cream leather with blue stitching but blue alcantara in the middle. What do you guys think?

I think the scheme would work well - although that front bolster in cream may get grubby if you're not careful.

By the way - you have mail

The trimming decision is a real difficult one. Mr Mac I did originally think about doing exactly as you suggested and I have seen a number of Tuscans with that speced from the factory....

The issue is for me and I am probably being a bit weird is I don't like the semi circle divide on the back panel. I was thinking of loosing it when they are retrimmed similar to what Dries has done on his...

I do quite like these but I am keen on the alcantara and I don't think I will get away with cream alcantara.

The centre panels will take the brunt of the wear - so I'd keep the whole centre dark.

Could add contrast stitching?

The current plan is to do the stitching the same as the originals and the whole car for that matter which is blue stitching throughout, so it will be contrasting on the cream but will match the blue bits.

These Datona style seats look good but I would go all the way to the top with the stitching. I am not completely convinced they would suit a TVR but the idea is slowly growing on me.

I am coming around to the idea Ian, I am a little concerned that the blue may look a bit too modern on what is essentially already a more modern seat in an older car. The Datona leather certainly brings back a bit of the classic look.

My friend has done a very quick and dirty photoshop of what it would look like if the datona leather went all the way up the seat back.

Hmm, see what you mean Mathew. I too wouldn't go for cream alcantara centres but boy would the colour scheme that way round suit your car [as in the Cerbera picture] yes
ie; Having the frames [outsides] of the seats in blue and lighter centres would match nicely with the doors/dash etc.
It's a nice problem to have IYSWIM, and you have the time to decide. I'm sure it'll look pukka.
