A stone age spanner ! That must be worth a few bob !
The mesh is held on by two screws at the front-top, another each side and three pop-rivets at the bottom end (at least, that is how it is one mine) Move and bent the mesh and take out
Bit of a system, i'll soon change it on mine with something hinging to facilitate easy access !

Hi Alan, I remade my grilll using 12mm square hole stainless mesh (the type you see in say Jaguar front grilles). Had to purchase 0.5 sq.m (500mm x 1000mm) but this only cost about £25 and is enough for two complete grills for the Griff. I then made up some nice stainless plates and they were carefully TiG welded into the relevant mounting positions, I then fitted the new grille aligned it, then marked through the holes onto the welded plates, I then took the grille out and drilled and tapped M5 where the mountings needed to be, I then refitted the grille and fixed into place using nice shiny M5 'socket head' machine screws. It does look better than the TVR galvanised chicken wire! Regards, Pete

Thanks Pete, a new grille seems like the way to go, I'll look around the usual places to source some new mesh. The rad has been treated to lots of tlc, straightening many of the little fins and clearing the tiny airways has helped it do a better job.
I also fitted a splitter like the ones pictured in other threads (lucky find from another TVR in the shed)
positioned as far back on the underside as possible (as per thread)although I thought it would look better further forward.
Went out for a test drive tonight and found the temperature guage needle siting much lower, mostly just above horizontal and slightly higher bringing the fans on when reversing into the shed.
Well pleased with the difference, I'll be more confident in slow traffic now

Hi Alan, I bought my mesh through a company I used to work for, but there are plenty of other suppliers out there, found this one earlier with the same mesh as I used -The rad has been treated to lots of tlc, straightening many of the little fins and clearing the tiny airways has helped it do a better job.

You do not want the hole size too small as it reduces the air flow. Regards, Pete

'It should be of sufficient size to prevent small children, cats, dogs and little old ladies from being hoovered into the front air intake' - Quoted from the TVR Technical Archives. Thanks for all comments
