LED headlamps protruding into whhelarch

I'm just in process of fitting a 7" Hella H4 main/dip beam upgrade into the Griff. I'm using Sportmotive adapted pods to take the bigger Hellas but have run up against a clearance problem when trying to fit CREE bulbs. The heatsink at the base of the bulbs goes too far back into the wheelarch area and is stopping me fitting the covers in the wheelarch. All else failing I'm going to have to make up new fibreglass covers that can provide the needed clearance however if anyone has any creative ideas for an easier solution I'd be v interested to hear.

I had the same issue when fitting HIDs so I cut a hole in the panel and glassed it over.
