My Griff has 245/45 16s on the rear but this size appears to be not available; would 225/50 16s be ok? any advice on what tyres I should buy? [full set with 15s on front] I am an old potterer not a track man. Cheers, John.

John,
225/50/16 was standard fit on pre cats so you should be OK. What tyres are you looking at?
Very difficult to get the correct sizes in Z rating. I've got V rated front and rear now an the insurers are OK.

Hi Paul, looking for advice on tyre brands, mine are ok treadwise but are about a million years old so it's time for a change, what are you running?

Toyo T1R Proxies are good. Also heard good things about the Uniroyal Rainsport 3s

As far as I know Bridgestone (205/15 front, 225/16 rear) is the only Z rated available

Both Toyo (205/245) and Yokohama (205/225) do them in V' (FFG' comment applies)

For the Yoko' see MPoxon thread (they look very tasty, but perhaps a bit 'tracky' for your usage...)

Toyo R1R. Just got rid of some 7 year old Dunlops which looks almost brand new. Only doing 7-800 miles a year so went for a softer grippier tyre so when I change them at least I feel I've had the use out of them.
Sizes are 225/50/16 rear (v rated), and 205/50/15 also v rated.

PAS cars have a larger size front tire ( from memory 215 or 225 ?? ) than non pas cars. I fitted a pair of Dunlop 205s to my PAS car and it's made the steering far too light.

T1R's I assume. They're a good all round tyre if you're not a fast road/track driver and still pretty good value.
The R1R's grip like st and I had a good chance to test them in the wet last weekend at Silverstone and they were as good as the T1R's but they still let go when provoked.

Yes, T1R's, should have ordered via Black Circles, a lot cheaper than my place.
