This year for our hols we decided to relive our youth with a continental tour

One week to go and the main and dipped beam went, didn't want to risk not getting it fixed in time by me, so a trip to X Works Blackpool was booked in.

Things starting to get serious

Dover customs wanting to check out the engine bay :-)

Stop at Mulhouse to check out the Schlumpf Collection

Apologies for the photos of some of the collection they were taken on a phone and in many cases due to the screen brightness I was unable to actually see what I was taking.

Leg to Como involved a diversion over the Susten Pass sorry for the Sat Nav position but hopefully you will get the gist.

Stop for picnic on the pass

Waiting for the ferry across Lake Como on our way to Porec

To be continued.

If the wheel arch access covers are blathered in silicone, just get hold of the loom under the dash and give it a good tug - headlight bulbs will eventually be accessible......change bulbs at your leisure, then replacement is the reverse of removal. Ish.

this may not constitute good advice

Firstly thanks for the replies much appreciated especially the technical ones.

In Porec we got some friendly directional advice after a slight mistake

Don't usually like motorways but the scenery in Austria was fantastic.

Also got the chance to visit Mark Upingham who is putting a Brough Superior bike back into production. Got an invite to the launch in December and was presented with a Tea Shirt, bike brochure, and key ring :-)

Germany was very very very!!! hot and the first time we experienced any major holdups the motorways were boring although we did get a couple of scary moments

Hotel in Germany was great value

After 3000 miles traveling through France Switzerland Italy, Slovenia Croatia Austria Germany and Belgium we ended back at the Hotel near Calais we had stayed at on our first night two weeks previously.

Can't believe that 30 years ago we did this in a MK1 Fiesta with a map some notes and no internet mobile phones or satnav to help us. I should say my wife did it with just a map and notes I just followed orders :-)
Sadly the Griff may now have to go, with two other hobby cars and an everyday car not sure I can justify holding on to it, wish I had found TVR's years ago awesome cars.
