Anyone know what spray oil is best to use while components are open to the air for periods of time?

I want to avoid any possibility of surface rust and don’t want to use an oil spray that may damage rubbers, valve seals, etc…

Also, I hear some spray oils can cause flow problems when mixed with engine oil and running at operating temperature. Not mixing and causing blockages!!!

Any pointers would be appreciated.

:-)

I've used gear oil in the past and put the parts into storage boxes.

I used these before...

appear to work fine. They use it on re-built engines whilst they sit on the shelf etc... smile

Thanks for the tips Guys :-)

As my engine parts will be open to the Winter moisture it makes sense to cover them with something, I just don't want to make the mistake of using something like WD40 that may or may not damage rubber washers etc...

Just looking for advice :-)

Cheers

I'd forget "fancy" sprays, brush them with engine oil, wrap in rag then put in plastic bags.

and keep them in the house not a cold damp garage wink
