I was thinking that sounds exactly like mine when, even down to the 1999 T plate, then behold some pictures. I have now got rid of the alloy dash and replaced with a Peter Wiggins dash. More on that here for those who are interested.

Now looks like this:

Funnily enough mine is going into Dave the Trimmer next month to have a few bits done. Namely new carpets, retrim of Cerebra seats in cream with fluted inserts. Getting the gear lever gaiter redone as well, currently agonising over cream with blue stitching or blue with cream stitching.

It is a nice colour combo and what sold me that particular car.
Aren't you afraid that you sit too high with the Cerb-seats in the Griff? Or did you try out already? What i like about Tuscan seats in a Griff that their swooping design suits the interior quite well and on top of that you can leave the cushions (under your bottom) out which results in a nice low seating position. Just wanted to warn you in case you didn't try out.

Hello Dries,

You are spot on regarding the cerb seat but I have solution...

I have been running a Tuscan seat in the car for the last 8 months, I really like it but for some reason it gives me a back ache on long journeys. I have had complaint this in the past with other tombstone style seats, I think it is the lack of shoulder support. What I love about the Tuscan seats is the design - it is a very attractive seat like you pointed out. Taking the cushion out is great for trackdays as you sit very low.

I have been running a Cerebra seat for the last 2 months and from a comfort point of view it suits me much better, no more back ache. Seating position you are right you sit far too high even with the front seat rail spacers out. What I have done as a temporary measure is cut down the foam which gives a much better seating position.

Only problem now is the foam is really thin so the seat is a bit too hard and it is cold in the winter.

I have had a chat with Dave the Trimmer and he is going to cut out the fibre glass base for the seat and install webbing similar to the Tuscan seat design so I can have a thicker foam and still sit lower. Also getting a custom foam made up with proper curvature for leg support.

If your going to all that trouble, why not install heated seats ? I believe they were an option on the Griff.
I have heated seats and steering wheel on my Audi - would be great on my Griff

Hey Paul I went to see your Griff at TopCats two years ago and the interior had recently been refurbished, your having it replaced now?
Yes, you know how it is. I have been doing bits and pieces but I really didn't like the seats. They did my back in something horrible and I was actually in bed for 5 days unable to move after a week driving through Wales etc.
So I wanted the original seats back in and went to Dave to get them refurbed. I was also thinking about replacing the carpet doorcards with leather and before you know it I have a complete retrim booked!
To be honest, the trim wasn't the best quality. Driving it you start to see all the flaws especially around the dash, and windscreen surround etc.
Since this is a keeper for me I don't mind spending the extra to get the interior I want on top of the body I now have (pity I cant say the same about myself ... it isn't as easy for the human body!).

Paul when I viewed your car I did think the retrim wasn't as good as the car deserved, given its a very early 4.3 I was interested in it and wanted to refurbish everything to be just so. I assumed the interior would be perfect having just be done, but as you know it's not. And when I thought about it I couldn't reconcile buying a retrimmed car just to get it retrimmed again.

Saying that I see it now and wish I had bought it smile

You probably know this anyway but when I did the HPI search (actually Simon at Fernhurst did it for me) it came up with a number of different plates it had worn including "43 TVR" I think from memory it was one of the South East dealers Demo cars when it wore that plate. I also had the chassis number and think I work out it was May 92 but my calculation might not have been right was decoding the chassis number is not straightforward.

What more do you know about it's history? I presume you bought it from TopCats?

Option 1?

Have you checked the paint finish up close and the reassembly. They did my car in a very similar colour to that and I wouldn't recommend them.

Oof. That's lovely - not too over the top, kind of 'factory plus'. Tweeter install is cool and I do like the parcel shelf. Contrasting stitching just works. One day...

I know it won't be to everyone's taste but it is turning out even better than I was hoping it would! smile

Very nice indeed. I like the fluted door cards. Looking forward to seeing the finished result with dashboard installed. You will not be disappointed with the Pete dash, mine is a quality piece of work.

L-O-V-E it.!!

Mine's being done shortly, and it's made me re-think!

My 400 will be painted in VW Diamond Black, and the predominantly dark trim looks really good...I've chosen tan and black...Maybe I should have black and tan.??? rotate
