I would like to have the car remapped. I have made some enquiries but don't know of any rover v8 mapping experts nearby.
I want to improve the air intake and then I'll look into mapping again.
Check the log files of rover guage to see if the existing map is going out of range during typical use. Assuming all else is well, that will tell you a lot. For remapping look up Jools on here. Very good and reasonably priced. He is in the middle of the country so not that far from most people. I want to improve the air intake and then I'll look into mapping again.

You run the car with Roverguage connected and there is an option to log all of the data. Basically, you need to check the trim columns in the spreadsheet the log file creates. If it's is going regularly beyond or below 100% correction, then you need to find out why that is happening. If ignition etc are fine, then the amount of air and fuel is different to what the car is expecting in the map. I will also look up Jools.
Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Just an update really.
I searched again for anyone relatively local to map the car to no avail.
This convinced me to spend the money on a Mark Adams Tornado Chip. I discussed the car with him and told him the changes made to the car.
This morning the chip arrived and I promptly fitted it.
I have been out on a short run with it this morning and my impression is that it is much smoother at lower revs, easier to drive at lower speeds and tick over is slightly lower too.
When I put the foot down I think it is a little quicker and so did my son in the passenger seat.
I am really happy with the chip and my opinion is that the increased smoothness and low end driveability was worth the money alone.
