Ordered 5 so I have a spare because I would be certain to break or damage one if I only ordered 4.

TVR badges next then.

Who has ordered some already and what are your thoughts about the quality of them?
There used to be a load of badges on f bay but not many at the minute.
Need to check the size ofthe MG badge before committing. I sent a link above to a badge supplier who could make a badge to suit - maybe a bulk order option to get a badge close to original.

Now I think about it I think I might have some badges kicking around which I bought in the mistaken belief they would fit my current wheel centres.
I'll have a dig around and see if I can find them and if they turn out to be useful and they have some info on them I'll post it here.

My set of 4 arrived today! They look good and are as near as I think we will get for replacements for the Gotti's. The badges measure 49mm, so allowing for the domed effect 50mm would probably be right. I am going to remove the MG badge and take mine along to one of my clients next Tuesday (they are a specialist powder coater), to have them coated in a satin black, will report back! Regards, Pete

Dear All, Mine arrived today, very smart apart from the MG logo. Look forward to the results of the powder coating experiments. Many thanks for your advice and inputs.

Paul. Have sent a PM re BVs after several false starts. Pls RSVP.

Hi guys, on further inspection of the new MG caps this morning I can confirm that the badge fitted is not a domed sticker type! there is a domed piece of aluminium with the MG logo printed onto it. I am not sure at the moment if the domed aluminium disc is stuck down or not, will probe further, but am conscious of not damaging it (should have got a spare like Ian). I believe that if the aluminium disc does come off there will be the heads of the rivets that are holding the clip ring in. Might be better to stick TVR logo over the MG, therefore keeping the domed look. I might have them gently bead blasted to remove the MG logo prior to powder coating.

If the useless idiots at UKMail actually try knocking on the office door rather than dropping a Couldn't Deliver card on the mat two days running I might have some I could experiment with.
Grrrrrr

I read about drilling through the centre from the back and poking the sticker off. Thats what I was going to try doing Pete.

Hi Ian, mine appear not to be stickers! There is a domed aluminium disc with a printed MG logo on the surface. I am not sure if the aluminium is stuck on or not yet, need to have a closer look without damaging them. If the disc does come off other issues I can foretell are: 1) loosing the domed effect if just putting the TVR logo onto the cap surface, 2) the heads of the rivets pushing the TVR sticker up. At the moment I might go with the idea of putting the TVR logo sticker onto the domed aluminium disc!

Hooray and Woohoo and all that, my wheel centres have finally arrived.

And now I see what Pete was getting at, the MG logo seems to just be printed directly onto the centre so a simple TVR printed badge of the correct size should just stick on without any issue. Though I might have a play with a bit of wire wool/polish and see what happens to that MG logo. The thought of it sitting under there would drive me mad. rolleyes I know, I know!

I haven't had chance to dig around for the badges I previously bought but hopefully will get some time tonight and if I can find them I'll mock one up and get a photo

Hu guys, well I am at my specialist coating client today, with the centre caps of course! The domed MG is an aluminium disc stuck on with silicon, it does come off, but takes a bit of effort. The good news is they can be powder coated, but will need a light bead blast to give a key, all the MG logo discs must come off. I am having them coated in a satin black (don't need them high gloss). The TVR badges should fit nicely into the recess, they will probably need to be 49mm diameter, but will wait till I get them back to confirm. I should get them back on my next visit, but that will not be till middle of May. Shall keep you posted. Regards, Pete

Now all the aluminium discs are off I have measured accurately the diameter of badge required - 47mm. This size will sit nicely within the flat surface of the cap. My caps are all stripped ready for beading and coating satin black, can't wait to get them back next month.

With regard to badges, shall I enquire with regard a bulk purchase from the badge making company FFG recommended? If so will need to know who is interested?

Dunno TBH Paul.
I think they were from Leven but I wouldn't swear to it.
I've had them a couple of years and picked them up at a show - which is why I think they might be Leven

Hi guys, a result! I have had a response from the badge company I contacted, they will do the 47mm diameter TVR badges that are needed to fit the wheel centres for £4.50 a set of 4 as we are going to order several sets! If you let me know if you want them I will purchase the bulk quantity and you can settle up with me later, how does that sound? Let me know ASAP and I will get them ordered. Regards, Pete smile

I'm in Pete.
I found the ones I have and they are 50mm so won't be any use.

What is the quality of the ones you're talking about. The ones I have are almost jelly like and a few MM thick. Any chance they will be like that?

Hi Ian, from what I understand they are resin types, which if like other badges I have had in the past are like what you are saying! Regards, Pete

That's good news. I'll take a set. Might even buy 2 if they're any good!

Once my split rims are finally sorted I'll be refurbing the Amil's so these will be very handy.
