In a dilemma, I'm just finishing re-commissioning a Griff and have no idea whether i should tone the mods down..or even remove some or all of them to sell it?
It's a 500 with SC and intercooler along with SC Power aero trim and internally it has a roll bar with 4 point harness (also has inertia belts so you can use either).
On top of that its got after market air vents in the bonnet, which will definitely divide opinion.
Would you remove any of it or sell as is?
If i sell it with all the mods where the hell do i pitch the price do the mods add value (which they should), or detract from the value?

Pictures required?!

What sort of air vent's? Personally I think a major detraction. . Unless it is the fibre on bonnet (which look's OEM)

Roll cage not a problem.. unless look out of keeping..

Post up some pictures.as what you describe could be either subtle enhancements or modified bling

I'd get rid of the aero trim, if it is the car that I think it might be

We have replaced one of them and the car is at the body shop at the moment so this is a picture of the test fitting (intend to paint the vents gloss black to match the SC500 aero kit);

Hi Hamish personally I would remove the aero kit but leave the Super charger, roll bar, bonnet vents etc as they are. The aero kit looks great for a track car but to aggressive for road use and spoils the looks IMO and may put a lot of people off buying it. The Super charger I don't think should detract from a sale as they make the car so much nicer to drive, are extremely reliable and as you know deliver phenomenal power, the insurance is not affected much either mine was only an extra £30 a year.
Having said that if your wanting to achieve the maximum amount you could remove the super charger, inter cooler, oil cooler, Mark Adams chip, green Giant fuel injectors etc etc and sell them separately they must be worth £3k alone second hand and returning the car to standard wont cost much at all and you will probably achieve the same sale price for the Griff.

It looks well executed..I assume the vents are needed for thexample underbonnet changes..

Sensible mods do not normally detract from a cars value however it is rare for them to increase it. Yours is a bit different however, well known car and with desirable and expensive mods all mapped up properly by Mark Adams. Might be worth putting up for a strong price, if not bites then out back to standard and sell the mods separately. The SC has surely got to be worth a fair chunk of money sold separately.

Thanks Barry took a while to find suitable aftermarket vents to tidy the bonnet up and give necessary engine bay cooling (FI is a bh for heat).
Matt, this is not bluebottle, this is a another one that i knew well as it belonged to a mate when all the mods were done.
It has a strong engine 57k with a refresh at about 53k iirc, and MA has worked his magic on it a few weeks ago so it runs very well again evil
Its got all the sensible upgrades to brakes, cooling and suspension to go with the performance.
Interior has had a complete retrim, hood repair and new rear screen, and the chassis and suspension has had a make over so its a good honest car now.

its just a little on the marmite side for many people which concerns me on where to pitch the price and whether i need to return it to stock...Personally i think a well sorted 400bhp Griff with really cool aero is a hit, but, i can only count on one hand the number of griff's that look like mine so i know i am in the minority when it come to opinion on griff exterior mods.

Than is good news, I thought you were selling yours for a moment there!

I like the aero mods just not sure whether I would be brave enough to do it too mine. I think it is more justified when you have a decent increase in power to back it up.

I would definitely advertise as is for a bit just in case there is someone who is after a sorted SC car with aero. Seems a shame to sell the bits separately if it has all been setup and working well, as we both know getting it to work correctly is the challenging part!

That bonnet looks awful IMHO & completely goes against why the Griffith won a British Design award for its smooth lines.

The Chimaera Bonnet has vents down the sides - could that deliver the airflow & limit the damage on the eye ?

I've bought a vented bonnet off Fibreon, firstly for the look!

Personally I'd bin the SC aero bits, and find an alternative bonnet solution.

As mentioned, the Fibreon Chimaera style vented bonnet looks in keeping - but I'm sorry to say the Mini nostril and Jag vents just look dreadful.

Sorry.

I agree with getting it back to as standard-looking as possible.
I saw some Jag vents on ebay and wondered what they'd look like.

An option that I really like is the 007 DB10 - to fit, take one drill.... and that's it.
Whether the grp would crack over time I don't know, but it would look ok on a Griff.

Blast from the past time.... remember Peter Humphries supercharged V8S?

Bonnet shape easier to work with, but looks a neater solution IMO.

Around 2004 I recall seeing a twin turbo Griff as well... had 6 circular vents I think? (And a nasty scoop)

The vents may look better if they were colour coded.

We debated colour coding them but came the conclusion the trying to camouflage the same colour just said "you're trying to hide them" so we decided to colour code them with the black splitter and winglets, which i think works better on a dark colour. If it had been a lighter colour i would have colour coded it all to the piantwork
