DARE and BOLA are both makers of replica wheels, cheap horrible cast wheels.

Stay away from them, get some genuine wheels.

Used BBS RS in the sizes you're wanting probably wouldn't be that expensive, and hold their value.
I've got a set of those cheap horrible cast wheels on my car and I have to say I'm very pleased with them;

I've had them on for almost 2 years now and their condition is as good as the day I put them on.

Whilst I would love to have had some original BBS or OZ split rims to put on:
a) Finding a set in the right sizes (different front and rear remember) is like finding rocking horse s**t on the bottom of Elvis' boots
b) Despite what 'Digitalize' might think, anyone who might have a set should be well aware of their intrinsic value and certainly shouldn't be selling them cheaply. The phrase 'probably wouldn't be that expensive' tells you everything you need to know about the OP's actual experience here!
c) In the unlikely event that you did find a set in the right sizes and at the right price they'd probably need refurbishing, I know from experience that this is about £800 per set to have done professionally - which on its own is almost twice what it cost me to buy my current wheels.
Very nice.

Stumbled across this company online yesterday - looks like they are (re)manufacturing a wheel exactly the same as the TVR spider.

http://bolawheels.co.uk/bola-b7/

Emailed them today to see if they would consider manufacturing a 17" 7.5/8.0 wheel in this style and make them with a 4/5 stud PCD. Maybe a few people out there interested in that?
Thats weird I've just emailed them with the same request then stumbled on your comment, did you get a reply?
I also emailed Bola Wheels back in October asking for 17" Spiders and they finally replied today saying its possible in the new year for both 4 & 5 studs but asked what width and offset.

Therefore, what size 17" tyres work best on the Griff with what wheel offsets ??

I got the same email, but they said the 17" would be 4 stud

I asked if they would make their 17” Spider wheels available with 4x108 PCD & 5x114 PCD as I thought it would increase popularity and the chances of them actually manufacturing 17" Spiders, I believe they use the same casting for all PCDs and offsets and then machine the PCDs and offset as required. I don’t know if it would be cost effective for them to cast their 17” Spiders in more than one width but I’m sure it would help if we agree on the width(s).

What tyre sizes & offset are you considering front and rear? Would 215/40/17 be too low profile on the front ???

I’m no expert, but if they are prepared to manufacture two widths I see 7.5 inches is recommend for 215/40/17 (front) and 8.5” inches is recommend for 245/40/17 (Rear). However, if they are only considering one width then maybe 8 inches as both 215/40/17 & 245/40/17 would fit.

I ultimately want 16"s on the front with 225/45/16 and 17”s on the rear with 245/40/17 but doubt their 17” Spiders would match TVR’s OEM 16” Spiders (I have 5 studs) and wouldn't help may other Griff/Chimmy owners.

In the meantime I’ll email Bola to ask if they would consider casting two different widths. If they are, would you object if I suggested the narrower width is 16 inches even though I'm not sure they would want to manufacture a 16" Spider to match their 17" Spider.

I’ve been running 16 inch Spiders with 225/45/16 fronts and 245/45/16 rears with standard Griff offsets for nearly 10 years and only considering Bola 17” Spiders due to the lack of choice of my rear tyres.

Interesting and Thanks,

What tyre sizes front and rear???

I'm concerned about 17s on the front but I'll wait to hear your tyre sizes.

Cheers, Steve

The tyre sizes are 245 40 17 rears and 215 40 17 fronts. Nothing extreme. No rubbing on the front lock to lock and rears look just right in my opinion smile my griff is also lowered
