Wondered if anyone could help me, was looking for photos of the interior light if removed to see what the light and the area the light fits into looks like?
I recently had a retrim and the interior light assembly was already missing, so trying to gauge assembly and what's needed.
Cheers

an old school ford interior light. if your hoop has been upholstered over eekthere is a square hole for the light and if i remember correctly the wires run in-between the two grp skins so your probably going to do more damage trying to refit.
some people remove them or disconnect them due to battery drain usually caused by a faulty door switch

Many thanks, yes I'd heard the same. I have the wires and alll ready to go in but not sure what the surround looks like for the light or it just fits into an open space in the hoop, is there any backing etc?

No fitting, just the light switch slotting into the hoop. I was wondering if there was any backing in the hoop?

Cheers

not as far as i know, the light has a plastic tang and a metal spring clip and it relays on the hole for securing

I’ve just bought a Griffith and I’ve noticed that neither interior lights work. Bit annoying, as it’s quite dark in my garage, so I’d like to be able to see inside the car once I’ve parked up. No idea what’s wrong, will have to get the multimeter out and have a look.

If you have the small ashtrays in the doors like I have hen these interior lights fit directly and exactly in the recess when the ashtray is removed.

They operate by tilting the centre, absolutely brilliant as the drivers one shines directly on the steering column as well as lighting up the inside of the car.

I'm sure there is a relay in the rats nest (near the battery) which controls the delay function. Might be worth checking there, I'm not sure if when broken it kills the whole circuit or not? Someone else might be able to confirm.

Thanks, that's useful. My car has been completely rebuilt, battery relocated and an LS3 engine conversion, so I'm assuming most of the wiring is not original! Should make it interesting!

The courtesy light delay relay is a Ford item, and is usually the tall yellow relay in the fusebox.

Original part no. 85GG 13C718 AA on it and this apparently changed to 92GG 13C718 AA and the Ford FINIS no. is 6434052.

These are known to fail frequently.

Stopping the lights to come on and sometimes causing a drain on the battery.

Had a quick look at the interior light last night. Turns out there's no bulb in one of them, the other had a bulb in, but it wasn't touching the terminals. Soon sorted that. It now works and stays on with the permanently on switch, but doesn't do anything when the switch is set to doors. Relay isn't clicking in.

I removed the relay and tested it on my bench and it seemed to work ok. It would click on, stay on for a while and then click off. But doesn't seem to work in the car! It was warm when it was in the car.
