I have been running 205/50 R15 on the front of my PAS car for 2 years now.... no issues. I have had the car on track many times and driven in cold, wet conditions and the car feels very stable. I did get the geometry done on the car at the same time to make sure everything is aligned properly. I think the better compounds used in modern tyres more than compensates for the narrower width.
Carrying on from what you saying Matthew, I compared AD08Rs with Rainsport 3s & the AD08Rs were 10mm wider for the same tyre size on the side of the tyre....Toffer said:
Great discussion thank you!
Please can I drag you all back for a moment to my question though?
Does anyone here have personal experience of running a Griff 500 on road legal, medium compound KUMHO Ecsta V70A Tyres, in 225/50 R15 and 245/45 R16?
Thanks again for your advice!
I tried the V70A in soft compound on my griff and they were fine for road use. ok in both dry and wet the latter because they have a decent tread pattern. I just didn't get on with them on the track and switched back to R888's.Please can I drag you all back for a moment to my question though?

I used exactly the sizes you asked about as they were a good fit, however in supersoft front & soft for rear. They lasted me a season's sprinting & hillclimbing plus road driving. Also, see my previous post -Please can I drag you all back for a moment to my question though?

Re the V70A, they work very well & have got a good tread pattern for wet use. K61 compound is a good bet as you said, plus sizes are good too. Might be worth a chat with the distributor as I'm not sure now they're being marked as 'competition only'. South Shore Tyres (Blackpool)are worth a call as the guy there is very knowledgeable.
Hope that helps.
Just to say that I've now put Rain Sports 3 on my PAS SE, on new SP12 wheels.
The car was on 235/40/17 and 245/40/17, on TSW Fusion wheels (17"-7.5?),
these were probably fitted by The TVR Centre when it was a demonstrator there.
Unfortunately the NSF had a dent, and was losing pressure.
The tyres (ancient Toyos, fitted by Hawthorns TVR?) were worn on the inside edge.
Yes I need to do more miles in the car.
So after much debate, reading various thread here, and a wait for ACT to get new stock.
I have Uniroyal 225/40/17f and 245/35/18r on SP12.
Tyres ordered through Blackcircles and fitted by local ATS.
They did say they had a bit of an issue fitting the rears.
I also I think they were disappointed I turned up with the wheels in back of the Golf.
Just need to sort out the rear centres now. Is there a better solution than the hacksaw method?
