I'm replacing the balljoints as part of a front end restoration. The lowers were easy but the upper balljoint taper seems to be firmly stuck in the housing so what is the collective wisdom on how to separate them?

Many thanks

Thanks Tim, think I need to use more force!

Sorry Nigel, I couldn't resist (.. the force...)

Tim, made me laugh but can confirm the force was not with me! one of the balljoints is now released but the other is firmly stuck.
Just on the off chance, I'm on the Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshie border and does anyone have access to heat as I have extracted the housing from the stub axle and think this will be the only way to release?

Thanks

Nigel

Lots of heat, big two-pronged fork, BIG hammer. I usually have the upright in a vice though, which makes it much easier!
