Still on 15" fronts 225/55 ZR 15 and 16" rears 245?45 ZR 16 ... Toyos right now. (1) can anyone supply Toyo or Rainsports or ??? in these sizes these days? (2) I could go to 4 new wheels to stay matched, do I go 16" or 17" ... some 17" wheels just don't look right (to me) on the Griffiths. I would love a set of the Ford RS wheels, in 17" they look great and I would be happy to stump up the cash for wheels and tyres.
I keep looking at wheels (e.g. Wheelbase and Demon Tweaks) but not getting that YES, THAT'S FOR ME feeling ...
Any ideas gratefully received!
JOHN

I would check what the standard sizes should be as a 205 55 15 front is easier to find than a 225 from a basic search.
Uniroyal rainsports are a good all round tyre.

Thanks Belle... I will check as on reflection I think you are correct and they are 205 ... it was hammering down with rain and blowing a hooligan when I posted, I should have gone to the garage and checked. Will do in the morning. I have seen good reports on Rainsports so if I could find 2 fronts and 2 backs I would not hesitate.

If you have 225 on the front 15" wheels, the profile is likely 50 not 55. smile 225/50 x 15 were only normally used if you have PAS (although nothing was really normal or 'standard' at Blackpool, they used 3 different sizes. rolleyes )

Have a search, you may find something like a 225/50/16 brings up a lot more tyres for the rear, there seems to be a few options.

OK folks, apologies for confusion ... just checked, fronts are 205/55 R 15 Y ... rears are 245/45 ZR 16 Toyos at present, but would be happy to find Rainsports in those sizes. Not had a good look online yet, will do when allowed (curruntly I am told that I should not be "playing with my car" whilst we have guests). John

Seems odd but you will struggle to find a Rainsport for the rear in that size and a toyo for the front!

15 and 16” performance tyres increasingly hard to come by.

Why on earth should anyone be apologetic about asking for advice on the current state of affairs?

Nankang…… No don’t laugh, I replaced the rear Toyos on my old 500, with Nankangs and the difference was night and day. The Nankangs broke away progressively in the dry and although I didn’t push it hard in the wet, they felt fine. Really pleased with them. My current PAS 500 will be getting them, but not sure if a 225 / 15 is available for the fronts ?

I spent a long time last year trying to get tyres in those sizes but failed.

In the end I went for Rainsports in these sizes
2 x Uniroyal RainSport 5 205/55 R15 V (88)
2 x Uniroyal RainSport 5 225/50 R16 Y (92)

I've been very happy with them and not noticed any issue with their performance.
