Looks to be on the atmosphere side to me - so not a leak.

I presume thats for any fuel residue that gets past that bearing/bush to drain and not allow to reach the internal sweeping fingers in the TPS a vent if you like seeing as the TPS to plenum has a gasket also

Thanks for your replies - Yes this is where I am confused, the TPS needs a gasket, but there is a gaping hole drilled below it anyway. The smoke tester had a column of smoke pouring out of it, which I assume will turn into unmetered air when under vacuum. I have a tester with pressure leak guage, and between the 3 leaks it was not really able to build enough pressure to give an understandable reading.

as mentioned on that thread, i dont expect the shaft to be airtight, assuming the shaft itself isn't worn. I tended to put a blob of very thick grease on the shaft when reassembling to help sealing a little.

have they put a sleeve over the wafer thin remains of the original inlet sleeve? (therefore not 72mm - as 72mm requires full removal of it)

No they'd bored it broke through the lower (the area you want welded up) then put a thin sleeve into the remains and bored that (wafer thin) IIRC that port/passage in shot hides the slight mismatch/overlap in that shot
