Just got this months Evo mag. On page 108 there's a list of speeding penalties in France.
20kph over limit - 45 euro fine 1 point
20-30 over limit - 90 euro 2 points
30-40 over limit - 90 eure 3 points
40-50 over limit - 90 euro fine 4 points immediate confiscation of driving licence
More than 50 over limit -
750 euro fine 6 points immediate confiscation of driving licence for minimum of a month !
The editorial tells the story of one of the mag's team who recieved an immediate 15 day ban and his car was abandoned at the local nick untill a replacement driver was provided.
Dont think the points are a problem but i'm making sure my passenger is covered to drive for this years Le Mans trip.

This was the same as last yr. Apparently you should take two driving licences.

I got caught in February doing 106mph on the autoroute which resulted in €90 euro fine but no points - I considered this a bargain ! I've also been flashed a few times from roadside speed traps but again, no points. Think its just good fortune & now sit at 95mph.

If you're driving on an old pink licence you can also tell the DVLA you lost it, get a modern one, and use the old one to give away to the French police if they try to take it from you. My experience, however, is that if you're polite, you'll just get the 90 euro fine.
