I've been a lurker in these forums for several weeks while planning the purchase of my own '96 Griff, which I collected last night. Woo hoo! Starmist blue, flint interior - immaculate.

I always loved the look and sound of TVRs. In New Zealand there weren't many around to admire - did I read somewhere that 95% of production is still in the UK? So my first rag top there was a '73 Triumph TR6 (now up on blocks in the back of a chicken shed . Although a lesser machine in every way, I think the TR6 shares a lot of the spiritual essence of what makes a TVR such a special machine to have and drive -british, grunty, basic "parts-bin" engineered, affordable, and with a truly sweet engine note.

Anyway, enough rant and ramble - just wanted to say hi - and thank you. These forums and archives have been a huge help to me in researching and making a decision to buy my 1st TVR. See you round.

Welcome Don.
Like yourself I had TR6s, Healeys, etc. in previous life. I agree with you that the TVR Griffith shares the same genes as those classic British sports cars. Good health to enjoy your new purchase.

Don - excellent choice of TVR - we have owned our Griffith for nearly two years now. Hell will freeze over before we part with it.

Welcome Don to Griffith ownership, The greatest TVR IMHO.
Word of experience, tread carefully in the wet and Ice, they will bite, but are otherwise a complete Blast.

ICE !!!!!! - Brave Banana

which comes to another point Drive them all year round as it dont do them no good leaving them in the garage for three months, and mind the ICE( not the In Car Entertainment) and loudpedal ingredient

Thanks all. I'm living in Maidenhead, working in Reading so should be a regular sight down the A4. 3 days and 200 miles in and loving it - and summer was good enough to hold off until I got my Griff :-)

It's due a service which will be done by Steve Howard next week. So far the only issues are a noisy diff, fluid on the back of the clutch pedal (the master cylinder was replaced recently - I'm hoping this just wasn't cleaned up at the time) and to my ear the engine is a little rough - maybe a misfire - I'll ask Steve to check it out.

I've joined the TVRCC but haven't got a mag yet. Are there any events coming up locally? I can't make Pistonfest unfortunately.

Cheers
Don
