After much strugling, I have managed to remove the most rear hood hoop, so thet I can fit the new rear hood section. Problem is all the "Captive" fittings are not captive any more.(In fact there sawn off because it was the only way to release them!). Does anyone know what the trade fix is for this problem? All I can currently think of is to fix the rear hoop to the hood and then bolt it on with a spanner held both sides. Then glue the hood on. This is fine but if ever the rear hoop required to be removed the hood section would have to be sacrificed to get the spanners back on.

This stud thing on the rear hoop has been a real problem - I think its the first time ever I have not been offered a solution on this web site! I reckon I have now overcome the problem by ignoring the original stud positions and drilling some new fixing points at 90 deegrees to them through the rear hoop. I have then fixed the hoop to the body with some large M8 stainless mushroom head screws. It seems to have been a great solution and the beauty is that they are easy to access if ever I need to remove the hoop without danaging the cover.

What glue did you use to fix the new hood to the rear hoop?

Chris - soon to refit my hood.

I have used Dunlop 1358. Its quite hard to get hold of as you need a specialist shop. They also cannot post it to you as its a solvent! Do not try and use evostick as apparently it will soften in the sunshine . I've done the targa top and intend to do the rear section at the weekend. The hoop issue held me up while I could overcome it. Any other questions give me a contact by e-mail and I will send you a contact number if you want a chat about it!
