You can see from my numerous postings that I’m a new Griff owner. I have the standard five spokes. There’s a smaller hole in the centre of the wheel, between two of the wheel bolts, that appears to have a thread in it but there’s nothing in there. Should there be something there ? This may sound stupid, but I’ve never seen that before.

I'm a recent new owner too.

I was just going to post the same question.

Mines like yours - nothing in the hole. So I assume its normal.

But it would be interesting to know was it was intended for though.

Sounds as though the plastic disc that covers the wheel nuts is missing. It's held by a single stubby bolt that goes into the threaded hole you've seen. The last owner might have taken them off and lost them.

Have a look at pics of standard 500s and you'll see what I mean - there are no wheel nuts showing.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier - been involved in moving house.

I bought a 4.3. Although its up for sale now as I have to find the funds to cover all the new furniture I've bought.

Simpo - you're talking about the seven spokes (Griffith 500) not the Camille Gotti five spokes on the early Griffiths.
TeGriffic - My 4.3 came with OZ Racings but I sourced a set of early Camille Gotti five spokes as spares. The rear two 5 spokes had the threaded hole referred to in this post. I was told that a cover was used in other applications but not on TVR Griffiths. The threaded hole was used to hold a wheel nut cover in place.
I just had the holes filled when I was having the wheels refinished.

Yes I was, I didn't read it closely enough. My old 4.0 had the 5-spokes (Belgian) and I never noticed any extra holes though...

That's good enough for me!
Shall we let the guy have his thread back? (and I don't mean the one in the hole )
