Just thought I would let everyone know that I managed to get my insurance premium on the Griff 500 down this year from £578 to just £409 on a like-for-like policy (5k limited mileage, windscreen cover, track day etc, protected NCB, even my excess is £200 lower!)!!!!

A quick call to Manning Insurance and I've saved a fortune. I can't believe my luck!

Can you email me the number please Keith as i need to renew my insurance 4 months early! (run out of miles and Heritage won't extend it )

If anyone else knows any numbers I could try I would be grateful, Sunninghill for instance?

Thanks in advance - I only have enough miles left to get to BTaP!

Is that right? Surely there's more to insurance than simply mileage. The other parts of your cover must run for 12 months surely, so you'll be double-paying for 4 months?

IMO I'd ignore it and drive safely.

If he has an accident and the limited mileage is found to have been exceeded I think the insurance company would probably not pay out, so best not to risk it I think.

I suppose it depends on how reliable the speedo in a TVR is. If, as they do, the speedo stopped working, and he crashed on the way to the garage to have it repaired would he be covered?

Try Dave Frith of Steadman & Hozier 0208 651 2988 he sorted me out with Norwich Union's classic car policy, was much cheaper than Manning. Good luck !

I've just saved £150 switching from Mannings to ClassicLine - seemed too good to be true, but yet to spot the catch.

Well one catch is that you can't have a protected NCB on a classic policy and they will seldom insure you for anything more than Social, Domestic & Pleasure which is a bit of a bugger if you want to use your car to get to and from work. And if you need Class 1 Business Use like I do then you are certainly stuffed.

I didn't think you could get classic insurance on Griffs anyway, or can you? I phoned Jardine Faber to see if they would quote and was told "You do realise we are classic car insurers don't you?", well no I didn't but I do now

Jardine Faber insured our Lotus Elan M100 on a classic policy and it is only 13 years old (1990 H-plate).
I'm sure there are Griffs of that age around.
