I am fitting 17" 7.5 Technomagnesia Detroits front and back on my Griff 500 (plus bigger brakes and Nitrons) and am considering PZeros instead of the more established Bridgestone or Toyo options.I was pleased with 18" PZeros on a 355 GTB I had previously but would welcome any input on sticking them on a Griff

I have toyo's fitted all round on my griff 215/40/17 front and 225/40/18 rear cant say ive noticed a great difference over the bridgesones, altough the tramlining seems to have eased on poor surfaces.

I'm currently using Toyos on a set of 17" x 7.5 rims, same sizes you're thinking of. Grip is very good, wet and dry and turn in is superb and much harder to break traction when they're warm, quite soft though so don't expect 'em to last too long though, but they're relatively cheap.

They're made by a company called Rondell in Germany, the model is the type 70. Available from Autobahn in Norfolk. Cost £670 all in for a set of 4 delivered.
They're only available in 17 x 7.5 ET35mm but this doesn't cause any problems with the Griff.

Appreciate all the comments re Toyos but it seems nobody on this Board(or the Chim board) has fitted Pirelli P Zeros to a Griff/Chim.Egged on by Richard at Peninsula I'm going to go for it this week - will let you know what I think!

Steve - currently Nero but trying to get Rosso. Thanks for your input on the 255 thread re size - understand recommended size is 235 and will go for this as plan B if the 255's don't fit/suit - Simon

There is a tyre test in Autocar (14/10/03) which tests performance tyres - Continnetal, Goodyear Eagles, Toyo Proxes, Michelin & Pirelli.
The Toyos scored lowest overall with Pirelli top.
I don't have much detail as I only skipped to the overall scores whilst killing 5 minutes in Tesco's.
Our Griff will need new back tyres soon and I am tempted by the Pirelli's.

Did you notice the test was conducted at Pirelli's own test track near Milan.

Seem to remember Goodyear winning a similar test in Evo where they used Goodyear's track. May just be that the tyre was developed with that particular circuit in mind or . . .

The Pirelli's only JUST won - the Goodyear Eagle F1 put in a very creditable performance and was superior in the wet as I recall.

It was just a pity that Bridgestone declined to submit the S-03 as I would have liked to have seen how it fared since that is what my Chimaera is currently shod with.

Indeed as Steve Heath says, most spinters running TVRs use Bridgestones. Nuff said. Rich...

for the last two years, the Toyo Proxes won the overall (independant) test in Holland (best tyre in the wet, 2nd best in dry conditions).
