Griff Boy / anyone

I dont suppose you've got any pics that you could post up or e-mail me ??
I'm going to cut my roof in half this weekend and need all the help I can get !
Have you got any catches holding the two halves together ??

Cheers Andy

I bought catches but haven't fitted them. I know Seasider (DEL 203) has no catches either. I don't think Moosehunter has catches and I can't say for sure about the others.
Don't fret about catches now, it doesn't need them and you can add them later if you decide you really need them.

Thanks chaps

When you cut the roof did you just make a single cut or did you cut a thin strip off front to back to give some space for some sort of seal ??

cheers Andy

Single cut.

"TVR" and "precision engineering" can't be considered synonymous wink
When I took the covering off my roof there was a thick black line drawn on each side of the roof above the window, with the word GRIND written above it.

Tolerances were not that tight so you've no need to worry.

Ian, I have PM'd you with a request for the pics. I am seriously considering this for my new acquisition especially after V8GRF and I struggled to get the roof into the boot last weekend - mine seems to be a particularly tight fit. And before someone else says it - I acknowledge that a tight fit might not be a limitation in certain other areas of activity ;-}

This is obviously a popular topic (me included). It would be great to see some pictures on here, or an artical on the Griffith Pages or even in Sprint. Any volunteers?

Thanks for sending me your pics Ian. I have recieved and downloaded them ok.

Im not going to bother with the catches either, but i do think i will put a couple of small dowel pins in just to positively locate the halves and maybe stop them fretting over time.

It looks like a relatively straight forward job and I will let you all know how i get on.....or i will be posting a wanted ad for a new roof !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well get a roof and Hale and Pace

Take a Dremel and/or saw to it after a mid way ponder!!.

On mine and Johnos we decided on doing a lip underneath like on the S series. So we had to do some fibre glassing. Seems to finish it off nice and helps the passengerside roof to rest on this lip, and possible adds a better seal.

after a bit of sanding/filling and preping a primer and then finishing coats...

Then I re-covered.still deciding on what of the two edgings to use as seen in picture bellow.

Now the only problem I have found with doing the lip, is that unlike some others that have just done the straight cut these wont fit on top of luggage in the boot..ie parallel with the boot lid. They do how ever fit next to each other either side nicely leaving loads of room for beer and easy to get out(without emptying the whole boot full) in the odd torrential downpour that I would stop to get out and put it on.

whistle

wink

I occasionally just have the passenger side on (drizzle/looks like light rain on a journey) How does that work with the lip ?
