I am delighted to announce that Martin Lilley has very kindly agreed to join us at the Growl on the Saturday.

Many of you may not know Martin so here is a brief introduction:

Martin, and his father Arthur, took ownership of TVR from Trevor Wilkinson in 1965 And owned the company until 1981 when Peter Wheeler took over.

Martin was responsible for cars like the Vixen, 60’s Tuscan and the M series cars. Under Martins ownership TVR produced the UK’s first production turbo charged car and TVR’s first convertible, the 3000S. He even commissioned nude models for the 1971 motor show!!
He was also responsible for the introduction of the Wedge shaped cars, which Peter then developed.

Without Martin the TVR brand may well have died and we would be driving some other marque, so we all owe Martin our gratitude and thanks that he kept a very special brand alive.

Please show your thanks by attending the Growl and shake the great mans hand.

That is good to hear but I reckon you should change that comment to "A few of you may not know Martin Lilley"... wink

You'd be surprised at our regional meet many don't know an M from a Grantura etc, in fact they can't even name the models, so not sure how far back people go beyond their own model. We've all heard of Trevor, PRW and that russian bloke, but not sure how many delve back in time. I've met Martin 5 or 6 times and he is a great bloke, and over the last 3 or 4 years seems to be taking a very active role in attending events - good on Martin and it's great to see he is still very enthusiastic about TVR. I notice he is now patron of the TVRCC.

I'd have liked to have got him to sign something for me - before we lose the last of the major TVR names - but I don't think I have anything suitable scratchchin
