A big thanks to everyone who has posted to this thread, it's great to know there are people out there who view their car in a similar light to myself. It really has lifted my spirits.

I'm really not sure what I'll replace the Griffith with, apparently before my time (I'm 28) when someone had worked hard and had the means to buy nice things people respected that and understood the effort that went into earning such items. The sad fact is, these days, there's a small minority that will never rise from the gutter and do what is required to get there. I may give my insurance situation a chance to recover (although my NCB is protected thankfully) and go for some "hot hatch" effort in the mean time.

I agree with all that has been said. I know its a car - but I would be gutted beyond belief. I don't know whether I could even bring my self to replace my TVR if something like that happened - I would be so ANGRY!

Just to cheer you up..... A friend of mine is in the Police and drives an unmarked car. He got a call about a car being stolen and eventually spotted it making a getaway - 3 teenage scrotes in it. During a high speed chase their car went out of control and crashed - killing all the occupants. He got temporarily suspended while an investigation was carried out but was soon reinstated. Obviously he did not intend them to get hurt. I however, gave him a pat on the back saying that's 3 less of this little shits to have to deal with. No more heartache can be caused by them. No more of our taxes spent on clearing up their mess and clogging the courts up. That to me, was ultimate justice.

I hope all gets sorted - I hope that TVR will sort out a new numbered one for you as I am sure they will.

I have been thinking about the comments placed so far on the subject of car crime and how low on the police list of things to do is below speeding tickets. I think that all members of Piston heads should write to the PM, and local MP on the suject and urge them to stop targeting speeders on motorways and go after the vandals and theives that cause far more distress. This can only reduce our insurance costs.

Oh I forgot they don't want that to happen thier revenues for taxes on insurance would go down as would revenes for the dredded cameras!!!

basically we are being shafted but it is worth a try, my letters have gone in already!! I have even mailed all the political partys in the UK on the subject.

Only had reply from the liberals (not exactly a positive responce) but they seem to give a shit..

If this happens, Kneilsen, give us all a call, and I think the mighty baseball bat of justice could find a use!!

On looking at those pictures, thats too good for them.

I suggest hobbling would be a better punishment.

Matt.

That is f##kiing dreadful, I am very sorry to see that this has happened, both because you have lost the pride and joy and also because TVR used to be a marque which was safer from this shit than others.

Put the little shits in the army and make them dig holes in mud and freezing rain for a year or so while being shouted at by an evil Sargeant Major with a pecadillo for young offenders..

Sorry to hear about your bad luck.
It burns me up when you work f***ing hard for your money and some low life scumbags think they can help themselves.
Hope the insurance scumbags cough up enough to replace it properly.

Those pictures are sickening!

If they ever catch the little shits (what chance?), they should take everything they own, put it in a big pile and burn it . Maybe that'd give them some idea of what it feels like.

You have my deepest sympathies Ken. If you do end up in a hot hatch, I hope it's not for too long.

Gaffer just rang me and pointed out that although TVR could build the chassis/body there are no Griff 500 engines left. Nabbing one of the other cars still lurking about in the dealer network is probably the best bet.

Speedsix Griff?

Guess its not possible because of all the differences.. but could be a fun, limited one-off! :d

Don't be such a twat. This is a car forum and while many of us have lost loved ones , this is hardly the place to discuss it.

The sorrow on here should only be taken in the context it's given in, surely??

Absolute Tw**s, can't believe anyone can do such a thing to such a gorgeous car, i know that when i pick my new TVR up in about a month or so that I will love it to death. This mindless act should make them bring back capital punishment, keep smiling Ken, you know we are all with you.

I was told "888" was about the luckiest number you could get by a chinese friend of my wifes, and went out and got just such a plate. From the pics, maybe it's superstitious nonsense after all.

Now if had been "924" I would have just nodded sagely...

Will there ever be a Pistonheads Manifesto? Because I can guess what the new penalty for crimes like this will be and based on experience in the middle east it will work pretty well.

Yes, I'd heard that, which is presumably why the Chimaera 500 is no longer available.
But surely spare parts are still available, or are all the Griff 500's and Chimaera 500's running on borrowed time now?
