I guess its turned up its toes.
I've opened the boot a couple of times today and I have the Modwise boot release so I know its not a stuck switch.

Has it just breathed its last or do they work again when they cool down?

I've found a reference to a maplin part YD79 but the maplin website has 2 of them - YD79L (2Watt) and YD79K (5watt) - does anyone know which one I need ?

I need to get my hands on one damned quick because we're on the ferry to France on Thursday eek

Can't help on whether your one will live to fight another day, but the part number you need from Maplin's is YD79L I believe (the 2W and 5W is actually wires, not Watts smile )

I've used them in the past on my Tuscan doors, and worked a treat, and fairly sure it's the same part. One word of caution...the two parts come in the same box, with just a small tick box stating which one is inside - have a look which one it is to save a frustrating return trip to the store! (speaks from experience frown )

Cheers

Do not pay anymore than a tenner, you only need the two wire one. Of course you can use the 5wire one, just use the two wires.

Bearing in mind we're going to Le Mans Classic then on through France and Spain down to our place near Granada on Thursday I think I had a lucky escape that the solenoid went tonight.

When I took it out I also found this...

When you buy the solenoid from Maplins in the box wil be a long chrome rod. I used this instead of the TVR wire cable and found it worked well and of course will never fray like pic. above.

I found the chrome rod hedgehopper but wouldn't using the cause you a problem if the servo failed in the open position (ie. boot lid closed and locked) like mine just did?

I used a wire because of this thought but I'd be happy to change this if its not likely to fix one problem and create another.

If the boot solenoid fails and the boot is shut and therefore locked it can still be released inspite of the chrome rod being used. Releasing the boot lid using the emergency system doesn't rely on the actuating cable (or rod) being flexible.

I missed a trick with my refurb, that before fitting the rear number pate I meant to attach a permanent wire through the emergency access to mean stopping to have to funk about with whatever when in need . . . D'oh.

That reminds me, I meant to do the same thing with my bonnet release catch - thanks.
