Or those bolts with LED's in them? I have used them on my Mini in the past. They do keep the lid much tidier.

Bolts with led's in them for holding the number plate on is what I'm planning to do.

Not much to report between getting my daily driver ready for an mot and a couple of lads weekends away I haven't had much time on the mini. I will get back to it this weekend though so there should be more to report then.

hi,
i have just got some hinges very similar to yours mine are off an e39 but they are really stiff and feel like the pressure in the gas part is to high?
when you fitted yours can you close them easy when the front is not attached as mine are really hard and just spring open again???

There almost impossible to shut without having something attached to them. You need to remember that it's all about leverage with them.

No problem if you dont ask you will never know. Be prepared for a steep learning curve though its a fairly tricky job for a novice.

A bit of work done today.

Fabricated and tacked in the finishing pieces for the inner wings. I will weld them in fully tomorrow.

Then I decided to rub down the wheel arches and filler primer them, before test fitting them to the car.

Then finally cut the front arches .

Today I added a couple of extra hidden fixing points to the front wheel arches where they are cut to allow the front to fold up.
Then I drilled the holes for the side repeater wiring and sat them roughly in place to check how they look.

Next I finished the inner wings and dressed everything off ready for spraying with stonechip.

Then the inside of the front end got the same treatment in preparation to stonechip that as well.

Too late to rethink those repeaters?

No it's not a big job to move or change them. Just haven't been able to think of anything better.

They just seem so "aftermarket" compared to the hand-crafted feel of everything else. Could you build something subtle into the wing mirrors?

I ordered the side repeaters with the intention of hacking them up and modifying the to look more of a custom fit into the arches. But when they arrived I discovered there wasn't much I could do to them. I might revisit them at a later date in the hope I come up with a better idea

please throw those side repeaters away, they look terrible!!!

i think id either use the std rover ones, or the earlier 1100 special ones (which stand more proud, might not suit your car)

The car is looking great. Do not fook it up by using those hideous side repeaters. OEM all the way.

Over indulging yesterday at the races meant that I didnt get into the garage till mid afternoon today, but I did managed to get the bulkhead, frontend & a few other bits and pieces prepared and stonechipped up ready for paint.

I also had a new idea for the side repeaters, something a bit more custom that should look a lot better. But I wont say anymore till I try and make what I need first incase it doesnt turn out how I imangine.

i hope your going to shorten those cage bolts!

the ones in the rear arches will catch the tyres and the ones on the floor can cause some real damage if you catch them on a kerb

ideally there should be no thread stuck out the nut
