Machine compound & polished the mini today. Then gave it a quick wash & dry. Pictures are all taken in the garage since it looked like it was going to start raining when I had just finished the work.

Some of the final bits to complete the parts list should be here in the next week or two as well.

Are you on spacered drums at the rear? The wheels look a little "inset" - might benefit from a pair of 1/8 inch spacers to help fill out the wheelarch (extensions). Still can't get my head around the rear lights - Heinous aftermarket rubbish on anything, nevermind a 'retro' look creation.

In the process of looking for new wheels just now. Looking at 5.5x12" which should hopefully fill the arches better. I emailed a supplier yesterday enquiring about availability of a wheel on there website, but thy haven't even bothered to reply yet so I guess I would be better looking else where.

you want a set of the minispares minilifes, they would suit it to the ground.

I don't like the rear lights either, sorry!

The minilife rims do look good but they only seem to be available in 5x12 and Im concerned they won't fill the arches properly. I would prefer 5.5" wide rims if possible.

5x12 and 165 tyres will fill the arches to the very edge, anything wider will require wood and pickets or similar

Also tweaked the fuel mixture a bit, I'm considering buying a cheap exhaust gas analyser to help get the fuelling sorted out just right.

Very Nice, but please ditch the rear lights! They just don`t go with the retro look of the rest of the car.

i need help!
i bought a mini 1983 austin mini, nice mini, needs help getting back on the road, now i bought it as a not runner, i jump started it and it starts, beautiful exhaust system to the car! but it doesn't drive, i put it into first and when i lift the clutch i just hear a whirring noise and nothing else, the guy said that its the cv joint or drive shaft but then i heard from a fellow mate that it aynt the drive shaft or cv joint, if it was it would still drive but when you turn it would make a funny noise, crunching noise, and he said its the clutch that's gone, now if anyone could help me it would be amazing, i just need to know the exact problem to be able to fix it,
by the way im a nearly turned 18 who's passionate about mini but i aynt a mechanic. NEED HELP! as the family now want to sell as its turning into a bit of a nightmare frown

can you get any gears at all ? the clutch is my suspect, as your friend says if it where a CV joint you would get drive accompanied by a horrid noise.

It unscrews and then screws in behind the number plate as a safety lock for the flip front. The electrics for opening the front by remote wont work unless this is screwed into the dash. There is pictures early in the thread about it.

Sounds like a clutch issue to me as we'll. I would start by checking the clutch slave cylinder and clutch pivot arm are moving correctly.

Clutch.

Check your cylinder/fluid etc. If all are fine, then you need a new plate.

Didn't have time to get them fitted though, that's tomorrows job along with a bit of fine tuning of the ride height.
