Hello, I am currently doing up a mini mayfair. I started to replace the drivers floor pan and i discovered that the outer sill could also do with reaplcing. Has anyone got any advice?

If it needs an outer sill, it probably also needs an inner sill. Check everywhere for rust including A-panels, screen scuttle panel, wings, front panel, inner wings, door frames and door hinge mountings, boot floor, door skins, etc, etc. Then strip & replace any rusty areas. It's the only way with a Mini.

As Cooperman says of its on a Mini and made of steel it will be rusty.
I recommend a fine toothcomb approach to identify all the rust. There is no steel part that does not rust. Check everything.
If in doubt cut it out and replace with seam welded steel.
Then make sure you treat the new metal and exposed metal with a quality rustproofing priming paint and overcoat with shulz or similar underseal or paint depending on finish required.
Then flood all the cavities everywhere with Waxoyl or equivalent making sure everything is covered.
Your car will still rust rust but slower. Impossible to rustproof Minis
Enjoy the build the experience will remain in your memories as will the car.

That's a bit harsh.
Why do people have to comment on spelling?

Why do people have to comment on spelling? my spelling isnt great, but i consider it to be polite to at least try to check and correct the worse errors before i post any thing up, very bad spelling, text speak and caps letters just jar on the eyes a little

Don't worry about it. There is a lot of friendly banter on here and you'll get used to it. We're a very friendly bunch of Mini-nuts really.

Welcome chap - and good luck with your Mini (nice Scamp too).
Worth you signing up to a couple of other forums too - join The Mini Forum (although it's currently down following a hack attack) and Minifinity. Lots of threads on those sites showing tons of pictures of how to do exactly what you're doing.
By the time you finish restoring a Mini you'll be an ace welder.
Cheers, Steve

Definitely ... The mini forums are decent. Will assist your needs.
They have helped me a lot over the last 4 years of restoring mine. Nearly there hopefully next month and it will be on the road!
Good luck with your project.

My advice would be to have plenty of patience and lots of penetrating fluid.
Ive had more minis than I can remember now over the years and rebuilt a couple of them. What starts as replacing one panel usually ends up as replacing half the car by the time you start taking bits of. Rust seems to spring up all over the place!
Still, they are easy enough to work on although normally lots of swearing can help.
