Afternoon all, Planning on building a 1380 engine but need some info as this will be my first big bore build. What is the best block to start with? And what are the best parts to use - crank, pistons head etc. Etc. Any info would be greatly appreciated, cheers guys

I would go for 1360 with 73mm bore pistons. The best option Imho now.
Use the best head gasket possible (Cometic?).
A+ block are strong.

i would be looking at omega pistons, usual moddified head, roller rockers, lightened and balanced con rods, arp bolts, payen bk450 head gaskets seem to be in vogue (use one in my car with this spec, no issues), cam wise its up to you, i run a 286 which suits me ive not experienced any other ones so cant comment. gearbox wise id go with a 4 pin diff at the minimum and be looking at an orange diaphragm in the clutch department.

I would go to 1330 cc as the block will be able to be re-bored again, whereas at 1380 when the bores are worn the block may well just be scrap. It is not possible to sleeve a 1380 block back to standard as the bores have to be offset. Remember there will never be any more blocks produced and they are already getting scarcer.

A+ Block. 73.5mm 1380cc is fine but as stated - once bored out you've no further (realistically) to go when the engine wears.
If you are worried about head gasket longevity dry deck the block.

When I was building 1380 race engines I used to look out for blocks that had been taken to the max bore size. These are perfect for off-set boring to 1380.

I know nothing about mini blocks, but I recently heard on here that you could use the micra block as they are the same as the original mini ones? Therefor, couldn't you start with one of those, especially as they are 2 a penny?
