Rob, I'm not sure how you think stringing it out makes it more lucrative as we charge our patrons per video, not per month because we don't like to take the piss. Many people have no idea how an A/C system works, so I took the decision to VO as simple an explanation as I could instead of another music montage.

Progress has slowed over the course as the early days were big ass easy stuff and now we're into the minutiae and fabbing up complex solutions. Having said that, now the HVAC system is done and we're putting more time into it, you'll see shorter, more frequent episodes until she's done.

Thanks for watching.
How things have changed from five years ago.

It’s alright it won’t happen. That is almost word for word what they put out at the start of the year for episode 38.

Wonder if we'll ever know the full story.

So much seems to be alluded to or shrouded in mystery.

Wonder if you can put a dollar figure on the cost of these guages based on their time, materials and lost revenue from unsubscribed Patreons. It must run to tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands.

I'm guessing there has been an illness or a family based drama/trauma that has altered the ability to turn out reliable content on time.

I don't pay for it so I am not bothered by lack of content but I like them both and what they have done so far has never failed to entertain me so I hope all is well and whatever it is was not too serious or life changing.

I saw on Twitter that they have been turning the switches they developed for Binky into a production product:

I thought it would be interesting too, but it's a bit dull; not enough doing for my tastes, too much talking to camera..

We’ll be back early in the new year with the final few episodes of Project Binky
I chortled at this bit in their pinned comment hehe

I think this is probably why some people get frustrated by them, they’re absolutely incapable of facing up to the reality that they can’t deliver.

Ah well. I haven’t watched that video, not really of much interest to me if it’s not Binky or Escargot.

Was that said in 2017?

I'm not too bothered about whether it will be finished, these projects never really are but I just want to see a video of some mapping, a dyno run and a roadtrip preferably to some quiet roads in Wales and then maybe a detailing video with some money shots at the end because I'm sad but then I can get on with my life.

So, my curiosity and a failing memory got the better of me so I rejoined the Patreon for a, very brief, period to dig up what the promised this year vs what they actually delivered:

  • April - Episode 38 of Project Binky - Pass, it did actually arrive in April, just, on the 29th.
  • April/May - Howie Did It - Homemade PCB's - Fail, still hasn't appeared.
  • May - Episode 39 of Project Binky - Failed, still hasn't been seen.
  • May - Silverstone Classic 2022 - Fail. They published it, but they published it in August and failed to point out it was actually a year old video reposted.
  • May/June - BOM Customs - Toyota Celica - Fail, published in November.
  • June - The Chevron Story - Fail, not been published.
  • June - Episode 40 of Project Binky - Fail, not been published.
  • June/July - The Millington Story - Fail, not been published.
8 video's promised in 4 months. What was actually delivered was 4 videos, 2 of which were on the same subject not included in the above, in 9 months.

Pathetic.

It's astonishing that two people who capitalised early on to monetise their YouTube channel via Patreon have allowed it to fail. There is a forum attached to their website that is a ghost-town, their social media presence is spotty at best and the YouTube/Patreon earnings must be plummeting.

I no longer have a dog in the fight - I stopped my Patreon when it became apparent that it's just being milked. The abandonment of one's core product and audience didn't go well for Ratner's and I suspect it won't go well for Bad Obsession Motorsport either.

Yep completely agree. They were one of the first YT car builders with decent production quality, skills and personality. Many have since followed and made a fortune.

Or fallen out, or one is ill, has other problems or has had enough, or cant be bothered.

Its an unfinished project at this point and some of the early work will be nearing the point it's undoing itself. Water pump seals and belts, rubbers and that sort of thing are happily aging away while very little seems to be happening. Unless they have been careful with storage and its nice and dry then its going to be corroding and finishes will be dulling off.

st or get off the pot chaps.
