I feel the need to inform you fellow classic mini owners about how i have been treated with M&M,Warrington.
I own a 1985 mini mayfair that to date has never been welded anywhere or had any subframes (I know this becouse the car was only something like 6 years old when i purchased it for my elderly late mother at the time.I took over the little mini after mother decided she had had enough of driving (Now in her late 80`s).I had always looked after the little car well with regular oil changes and basically whatever the car needed it got...The mini has now covered approx 80k miles and she had a couple of small issues ..Oil leaks,Driveshafts knocking, you guys know the score...Being a mechanic now retired for over 38 years ..I used to build engines and gearbox`s in the 90`s for a local engineering company as well as building a ground up lotus and having several high performance cars i`m not just a starter in this game...Right sorry about the long speach...I noticed an advertisment on one of the e-bay engines for sale whilst i was trawling through...I rang this place who promissed me thay had an excellent 29k engine and gearbox for sale that i could purchase straight away..Saying it would come all serviced up and ready to put in my little mini with no problems....I waited around 10 days for this engine to arrive..When the unit arrived i gave it a general look over and noticed straightaway the was quite a lot of debris in the head around the valve springs ect...Now in my experiance this is the slowest place the oil moves in the whole engine so tends to leave all the crap behind and is also a general way of seeing the service history of the said engine...Looking in mine,The roacers and head are as clean as a dinnerplate infact you can see the coulour of the cylinder head with no problems..So,I rang Paul the owner of Mini & Metro @ Warrington who just said just put the engine in without any fuss...I had to pay someone to help remove the old and replace the new motor due to me having frozen shoulders...The engine was replaced in the shell and i proceded to remove the sparkplugs and crank over the engine to obtain oil pressure before the tonnes of pressure on the bearings as the engine started..There was no way in hell the oil light and pressure was arriving..Infact it flattened two batteries trying (Obviously allowing rest periods for the startermotor to cool down inbetween)..So,I decided to reverse prime the engine and this did eventually get the oil pressure up..When i started the engine..There was loads of smoke with pressure coming out of the oil filler cap...(Piston rings/bores worn) and the oil light kept flickering on along with a grumbling sound from the bottom end..I informed Paul about this problem and he said ok we will replace the unit for you....Since then it has been nopthing but a complete pisstake (Sorry ) from them and 6 weeks later still have no car or engine,I have made 22 telephone calls and not ONE Returned..One day thay say its on the van ready to be delivered then i find out it is`nt...My wife has bad hips and needs to get to hospital on a regular basis to which i told him...He did`nt take a jots notice and we need our mini back (Both in our mid 50`s)I have never ever in my whole life been boffed off so many times by such a rubbish company who tell nothing but lies ..I have now asked for my money back so i`ll no doubt be waiting another three months without a car before anything happens....PLEASE DO NOT FALL INTO THE SAME TRAP GUYS..I`m buggered now becouse he has my money and i have no way of getting a replacement engine without the money back.....frown

Both 'The Mini Forum' and 'Minifinity' have bad reviews for M & M.
Looks like you'll need to get a CCJ to get your cash back.

It was the gearbox getting very notchy and with the engine doing 80k miles thought it best to replace them both...The engine has now been sent back to M&M`s so now the problem of getting my money back.....

Also now i have put the origional engine back in the car..And have changed the clutch bell housing section becouse mine was worn and getting a clattering noise from the clutch shaft (Where the clutch bearing attaches)...Now i cannot get enough clearance even with everything adjusted and it dosent feel like there is as much travel on the clutch pedal even though i have adjusted the two nuts on the shaft...The only other thing i have replaced is the clutch master cylinder and bled up several times to make sure it was`nt air in the system....ANY IDEAS GUYS...??? nOt come up against this before..?????

Looks like it was the Clutch master cylinder,Just stripped it all down and nothing visable but now obviously the clutch pedal goes into the carpet where it usually went...Where do you recommend to get a new seal kit from Please,Minisport or minispares or..??.

I have sent the guy at M&M the final notice before legal action..This bloody fool is an absolute total idiot becouse when i procede with the claim i`ll be putting forward all the headache + My monies + Interest +....

Any ideas of the names of the other mini clubs you feel i should inform about this waste of space guys please..??.
I would hate to see other fellow mini owners go through the 8 weeks of hell i have with these people frown

OK Kev this is Andy the man who actually did nothing but help you with this whole thing and i have even continued to deal with you despite the fact that you have clearly just done nothing but slag me off all over the forums and internet, what happened with the engine was completely unacceptable yes i have always agreed with you on that point and i personally have put in steps and rules to ensure that it does not happen again however, when you are on this forum just bad mouthing us thats not entirely fair as when i started dealing with this we had it resolved between us very quickly, so i hope that none of your comments above have been aimed at me!!!!! eapecially the "8 weeks of hell with these people"??!!!

oh and just so everyone is aware it is unfair to judge us on past staff members M&MS Mini Spares LTD Is under new management!

Maybe the answer in showing good faith and restoring your good name is to give the man what he wants, A full refund.
