Anyone know where to get a single reversing "spot" lamp to fit on the boot lid? Like the original Lucas ones (only preferably cheaper!). I've tried the usual websites... only one with any results was minisportshop.com but no pictures!!

I think I have an original Lucas one in the loft (576?) not sure what condition it is in but can have a look if you are interested?

Cheers

The lamp to which you are referring is the Lucas 576 rear-mounted foglight. These are becoming really expensive now and you can pay around £60+ at an autojumble for a decent one.
A good alternative, with the right period feel, might be the Lucas Fogranger from the late '60's/early '70's. This is a similar diameter, has a foglight beam pattern, but is base mounted, so you'll need to make up a small 90 degree steel or aluminium bracket. You won't really see the bracket as it will be hidden by the light unit.
I might have one I don't want, although this may be a Lucas Ranger, the spotlight version. It would still look right though. Do you want me to have a look? I will only want a few quid for it if you do want it.

Sorry for the delay on this, right nipped up into the loft this evening and found the following

The lamp on the bottom right is the 576, it looks in good condition but the glass has a couple of chips in it, above it a Lucas Fogranger. The lamp on the top left just says "Nearlight" on it whilst the lamps below it seem to be a pair (both have a red Lucas dragon badge or whatever it is) although one is a fog and the other a spot (seem to remember Police Cooper S's having this set-up??)

I am not going to use any of these lamps now so if anyone is interested make me an offer

Cheers

I’ve got one of those 576 lamps on the floor in my garage, are they really worth that much?

Hi Miniman,

Have you sorted out your requirement?
I found the Lucas Fogranger I mentioned - I had stored it in the wrongly marked box - hence the delay in replying.
Email me direct if you want it.

Thanks for the lamp, Lee. Time to crack out the tools and fit it!
